    • PURPOSE:To produce safely a continuously cast slab at a high speed by using side endless belts which have water cooing devices and move at the same speed along stationary guides for the closed members on both sides of endless traveling belts in a belt type continuous casting machine for the slab. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel is poured into the space 1 constituted of a pair of the endless belts 2, 2 for casting and the side blocks 9 disposed to the end parts of both side faces thereof in the belt type continuous casting device. The molten steel is water-cooled to solidify by cooling water nozzles 7 by which the continuously cast slab is produced. The side blocks in such a case are constituted of the endless belts 12 which are made of the same material as the material of the belts 2 and are supported on the rear side by the stationary guides 13 having ribs 14 and form cooling water passages. The belts 12 move in the same direction at the same speed as the speed of the belt 2 and are water-cooled from the rear side as well and therefore the continuously cast slab 1 is safely cast continuously without the generation of a breakout accident by flash, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To produce slabs having a desired width at a good yield and high speed by producing a broad and thin walled slab by a drum type continuous casting method and cutting online the slab to plural pieces in the transverse direction. CONSTITUTION:The slab 4 which is formed between drums 1, 1 and side gates 2 and is supported by guide roll 6 groups is parted to plural pieces of slab products 8 in a drum type continuous casting method for producing thin steel sheets. The slab 4 is produced by using about 8m broad drums as compared to ordinary about 2m drums. End parts 9 are removed by the prescribed width in the stage of parting the slab by cutters 7. The high-speed production of the slabs having the desired width at a good yield is thus made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To form an electric current density distribution specified in the transverse direction of a steel strip which travels in an electrolyte by providing electrodes of different polarities so as to face the front and rear of the steel strip and providing shielding plates which are variable in the distance from the steel strip in the transverse direction thereof to both sides of the edges of the steel strip. CONSTITUTION:The steel strip 21 which is held dipped in the electrolyte 20 is traveled and electricity is conducted between the anode electrode 24 and cathode electrode 25 provided to face the front and rear of the strip 21 by which the electrolytic pickling and electrolytic degreasing of the strip 21 are executed. The positions of the shielding plates 23 provided to face both edges 22 of the strip 21 are adjusted to maintain the prescribed value in the distance from the strip 21 so that the density of the electric current 26 at the edges 22 of the strip 21 is prevented from varying and is maintained approximately uniform over the entire surface of the strip 21. The electrolytic pickling and electrolytic degreasing are thus executed with extremely good quality.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent such accident as to burn a filter dirt collector from occurring, by a method wherein exhaust gas containing combustible dirt is cooled after combustion treatment and then the dirt is collected.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas containing ignited combustible dirt and soot are exhausted from a cupola 1. The combustible dirt contained within the exhaust gas is collected by a heating unit 5 when it passes through the inside of a duct 4, an unburnt part of the ignited combustible dirt begins to burn and the combustible dirt being kept as it was unignited collected by the heating unit begins to ignite and burn, which are pulverized by an exhaust gas flow at a stage when it is burnt out, becomes smaller and led to a cooler along with the exhaust gas through the heating unit 5. They are cooled by the cooler and then collected by a filter dirt collector. With this construction, such an accident as to burn filter cloth of the filter dirt collector by adhering the combustible dirt being kept as it was ignited to the filter cloth can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the horizontal and downward flows of a gas within a solid particle layer at the boundary of operation zones by a method wherein the interior of the circular grate is divided by partition plates to thereby form a plurality of solid substance housing chambers. CONSTITUTION:The solid substance housing chambers 4 are defined by side walls 2, lower split grids 7 and the partition plates 8 dividing radially the space between the side walls 2 and stand side by side in the circumferential direction. The upper edge of each partition plate 8 is located lower than the surface A of a solid layer by a height C by which the shearing force of the solid particle layer reduces rapidly among the partition plates 8. Further, an upper seal plate 12 and a lower seal plate 13 are provided between the operation zones, for example, a heating zone and a cooling zone so as to sandwich the circular grate. In addition, a number of labyrinthine seal plates 11 are suspended from the upper seal plates and come into contact with the upper surface of the solid particle layer within each of the solid substance housing chambers 4 so that the heating zone and the cooling zone are isolated from each other airtight. The length G of the upper seal plate 12 is more than 1.5 times the fixing pitch E of the partition plate 8 and the length of the lower seal plate 13 is approx. two times the fixing pitch of the partition plate.
