The top end parts of the recessed ribs 5 and 6 are bonded so as to provide a welded surface 7. The energy absorbing member for a vehicle 1 is made of thermoplastics produced by adding 35 to 75 wt% of an amorphous resin to a polyolefin based resin, or thermoplastics produced by adding an olefin based elastomer, or the like to a polyolefin based resin.
