    • The present invention relates to a travelator or moving ramp and a method for servicing it. The travelator or moving ramp contains a conveyor (1) and the travelator or moving ramp is modular such that the travelator comprises a center module (2) essentially fixed in its position, which comprises a main part the length of the conveyor (1) , and at least one end module (3, 4) detachably connected to the center module (2) , which comprises a section of the conveyor shorter than the main part as well as the serviceable objects. In the method the travelator or moving ramp is stopped and closed to traffic. The end module requiring servicing is detached from the center module (2) . Then a new or serviced end module (3', 4') is connected to the center module (2) . The end module (3, 4) requiring servicing is transported away from the travelator or moving ramp for servicing at the servicing site. The travelator or moving ramp is started and opened to traffic .

Each belt pulley (4; 41, 42, 43, 44, 45) is a mold-cast object comprising a first side (6), in which is formed a first aligning and coupling element (7), and a second side (8) opposite to the first side (6), in which is formed a second aligning and coupling element (9) fitted to match the first aligning and coupling element, so that the first and second aligning and coupling elements of adjacent belt pulleys (4; 41, 42, 43, 44, 45) on the shaft (3) in cooperation align and couple the belt pulleys together in shape-locking manner, forming a belt pulley pack (10).

The travelator comprises a branch conveyor (5), which in a connecting section (6) branches off with respect to the main conveyor (1) to allow passengers to enter from the branch conveyor (5) onto the main conveyor (1) and/or to exit from the main conveyor (1) onto the branch conveyor (5). Like the main conveyor (1), the branch conveyor (5) is also implemented using shafts (2) and belt loops (4). In the connecting section (6) the branch conveyor (5) and the main conveyor (1) have at least one common shaft (2).
