    • PURPOSE:To continuously produce a strip for a long time by arranging mechanism for measuring molten metal wt. in a turndish, continuously detecting the molten metal wt. and detecting abnormality of the produced strip with unexpected decreasing behavior on appearance of this detected value in the strip production process. CONSTITUTION:The mechanism for measuring wt. of the molten metal held in the turndish 12, which a pouring nozzle 20 is produced at a bottom wall and molten metal is continuously cast, is arranged. The molten metal wt. is continuously detected with this mechanism. The abnormality of produced strip is detected with the unexpected decreasing behavior on appearance of this detected value to wt. of the molten metal held in the tundith in the strip production process. Particularly, in order to improve accuracy of the diagnostic method, three pieces or more of load cells 22 are desirably arranged in the bottom part in the turndish as the detecting mechanism for wt. of the molten metal in the turndish. By this method, the abnormality of the produced strip in the operation for producing the rapidly cooled metal strip with single roll method, such as amorphous metal strip, can be easily checked in on-line.

    • PURPOSE:To pass a metal strip through a conveying guide under non-contacting condition and to prevent breakage by adjusting blowing quantity of air at the time of detaching a rapid solidified metal strip with a cooling roll by blowing air and introducing into a pinch roll after guiding in the conveying guide. CONSTITUTION:Molten alloy is injected on the cooling roll 1 from a pouring nozzle 9 and the rapid solidified amorphous strip 2 is detached with an air knife 3 and this strip 2 is guided into the conveying guide 4. Then, at the time of flying in the conveying guide 4, in order to prevent this strip from colliding to inner wall of the guide, by advancing/retreating an adjusting plate 11 in the conveying guide 4, gas stream width from an air knife 3 is adjusted to control so that the strip 2 glides in the guide under non-contacting condition. Successively, the strip is introduced to the pinch roll 5' constituted with a brush under opening condition and a solid roll 5, and after passing the strip between the rolls, the cast strip 2 is caught with pressing down of the pinch roll 5'. The cast strip 2 in the conveying guide 4 is passed through without breakage under non-contacting condition with upper and lower faces and side face of the inner wall of the conveying guide and further, the tension is given to the strip with the pinch roll 5' to obtain the strip.
