摘要： Standard word lists that are often used for such operations as predictive text, spell checking, and word completion are based on general linguistic data that might not accurately reflect actual text usage patterns of particular users. Systems and methods of building and using a custom word list for use in text operations on an electronic device are provided. A collection of text items associated with a user of the electronic device is scanned to identify words in the text items. A weighting is then assigned to each identified word, and the words and corresponding weightings are stored.

A navigation home region includes a navigation home key, and a navigation travel region bounds the navigation home region. The navigation travel region overlies text entry keys within the keyfield. A user navigates by actuating the navigation home key and then moving his finger across keys lying within the navigation travel region and otherwise generally used to effect text entry into the device. The navigation home key is preferably configured for dual levels of actuation, as may be the text entry keys.

The location of a user's touch on the touch interface is detected. Based on the location, more than one letter may be identified. If more than one letter is identified, predictive text software is used to determine which of the identified letters the user intended to select. The touch interface may be a touchscreen or one or more touchpads.

The keys may be toggle keys. The characters may be input via multi-tapping the keys, word completion, and/or other known text entry techniques.
