摘要： A lens blocking device is disclosed that includes a frame, a light source mounted on the frame, a carriage having a first end and a second end mounted on the frame for sliding movement between first and second positions, a first mirror mounted on the carriage first end and a lens block holder mounted on the carriage second end and shiftable between third and fourth positions with respect to the carriage, a stage disposed between the light source and the carriage, and including an opening, for supporting an object, an at least partially translucent screen generating a display image operably connected to the support frame, at least one second mirror arranged to reflect an image of an object on the stage from the first mirror, when the carriage is in the first position, onto the screen, and an actuator operably connected to the carriage. The actuator shifts the carriage between the first position and the second position and shifts the block holder between the third position and the fourth position, and the display image on the screen is superimposed over an image of the object on the stage when the carriage is in the second position.

摘要： Capsules, for example for the delivery of pharmaceuticals, are produced from two films (18) of a water-soluble polymeric material, by deforming the films to form a multiplicity of recesses, and filling the recesses, using two adjacent rotary dies (14, 15; 42) with recesses (16) into which the films (18) are deformed. The dies (14, 15; 42) act as electrodes for welding the films together by dielectric welding to form filled capsules (30). The capsules (30) can be separated from the resulting web either by coating at least one of the dies (14) with an electrical insulator (21), or by transferring the web from the dies (14, 15; 42) to a second pair of dies which cut the capsules (30) free. The polymeric material may be gelatin, or a water-soluble cellulose derivative such as hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, and may also contain a plasticiser.

摘要： An automated employee selection system can use a variety of techniques to provide information for assisting in selection of employees. For example, pre-hire and post-hire information can be collected electronically and used to build an artificial-intelligence based model. The model can then be used to predict a desired job performance criterion (e.g., tenure, number of accidents, sales level, or the like) for new applicants. A wide variety of features can be supported, such as electronic reporting. Pre-hire information identified as ineffective can be removed from a collected pre-hire information. For example, ineffective questions can be identified and removed from a job application. New items can be added and their effectiveness tested. As a result, a system can exhibit adaptive learning and maintain or increase effectiveness even under changing conditions.

The location-base device configured in one or more of the foregoing manner facilitates a check authorization process performed by a check processing service.

The dielectric resonator has a substantially small diameter to length ratio. The resonator assembly provides improved spurious performance and quality factor (Q) at a lower mass. A resonator filter is constructed using a plurality of these resonator assemblies, where adjacent pairs of said resonator cavities are separated from each other by a common cavity wall. By forming a first iris opening formed within a first common cavity wall and forming a second iris opening formed within a second common cavity wall having a position that is vertically offset from the position of the first iris, it is possible to reduce stray coupling.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for manufacturing a flexible sheet product having liquid absorbent qualities. The apparatus generally includes first and second competing vacuum systems pulling air in substantially opposite directions into first and second oppositely rotating screens, respectively. A molten polymer-based material, which is blown into the first and second competing vacuum systems, is pulled in substantially opposite directions onto the first and second oppositely rotating screens. The liquid polymer-based material fiberizes as it is being pulled apart by the competing vacuum systems creating a web of fibrous material which cures to develop the flexible sheet product having liquid absorbent qualities.
