摘要： A new protocol layer is provided as part of a protocol stack associated with a packet-based multiaccess mobile communications system. The protocol layer is preferably located above a medium access control (MAC) protocol layer and a physical protocol layer of the system and below a transport/network protocol layer. Such a subnetwork protocol layer provides, inter alia, the communications system with various mobility management functions, for example, tracking mobile user stations throughout the system, mobile station access to the system, and connection/call continuity within the system. The subnetwork protocol layer of the invention also performs packet routing functions associated with the system. Routing can be accomplished in many ways, for example, via source routing, connectionless routing, or tunneling. Further, the new protocol layer of the invention is preferably located above a data link layer with respect to the protocol stack associated with communications between network nodes.

摘要： A method is provided for restricting or enhancing broadcast content access on a per-subscriber basis across a population of subscribers, all of whom have a valid content access key to such content, without necessitating changes to the current standard schemes and protocols for distributing content access keys and broadcasting the traffic keys associated with the broadcast data itself, and without trusting the application that processes the data. A method of handling a multimedia broadcast in a device comprises receiving broadcast content in a media stream encrypted using a traffic key, receiving the traffic key encrypted using a session key, and receiving broadcast attributes encrypted using the traffic key and the session key, wherein use of the media stream by the device is controlled using the broadcast attributes and using an access policy in the device.

摘要： A motor vehicle powertrain includes a transmission producing multiple speed ratios, and a transfer case including a second input driveably connected to the transmission output, a second output continually driveably connected to a first set of wheels and releasably connected to a second set of wheels, for producing alternately in the transfer case a low speed ratio and a high speed ratio. A mode selector produces a signal representing a desired driving mode. A controller, responsive to the signals produced by the mode selector, controls the transmission to produce alternately the multiple speed ratios of the transmission, and for controls the transfer case to operate alternately in the low speed ratio and high speed ratio that corresponds to the desired driving mode and a current speed ratio produced by the transmission.
