摘要： PURPOSE:To readily obtain the above substance which is a raw material intermediate for medicines, engineering plastics, etc., without forming by-products by reacting a p-halogenated nitrobenzene as a starting raw material with sodium sulfide in water solvent containing a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A p-halogenated nitrobenzene (e.g. p-chloronitrobenzene or p-bromonitrobenzene) is used as a starting raw material and a surfactant is added into water solvent to disperse the raw material therein. Sodium sulfide is subsequently dropped (the sodium sulfide is preferably fed as an aqueous solution and the concentration thereof is 5-30wt.%, especially 15-25wt.% at 20-80 deg.C temperature in dropping with holding time of 0.5-4hr after the dropping). Reductive reaction is then preferably carried out at 85-150 deg.C in an inert gas atmosphere to afford the objective compound.

CONSTITUTION:The objective compound useful as an intermediate for the bioreaction to synthesize L-isoleucine from L-threonine can be produced by oxidizing an aqueous solution of 1,2-butanediol having a concentration of 0.5-30wt.% with oxygen under oxygen pressure of normal pressure-20kg/cm at 20-100 deg.C for 2-10hr in the presence of a platinum catalyst containing Pt and a metal component selected from Pb, Tl, Cd and In and supported on a carrier such as activated carbon while adding an alkaline substance such as NaOH to the reaction system to keep the pH of the reaction liquid usually in neutral or basic state. The amount of Pt and other elements of the catalyst is 0.5-5wt.% based on the 1,2-butanediol and the amount of the catalyst component supported on the carrier is 0.5-15wt.% for Pt and 0-20wt.% for the other element.
