    • The present invention deals with light level control for building illumination by controlling electric lights and windows treatment. In an embodiment, the light level is controlled by a control system (2) operatively connected to at least one interior sensor (3) for detecting an interior light level; at least one electric light controller (4) for controlling the light level; at least one window treatment controller (5) for controlling the admittance level of daylight; and a processing unit (7) for handling control setpoints, including an interior light level setpoint. The level of the electric lights and the admitted level of daylight are controlled in parallel by operating the electric light controller and the window treatment controller.

    • The invention relates to a control device (10) for use in an ambient light control system (20) for controlling ambient light entering a space (1) through an opening (2). An ambient light prediction unit (11) provides ambient light prediction values, which are predictions of an ambient light property at the opening (2). An ambient light adjusting unit (12) provides, at different ambient light adjusting time points, an ambient light adjusting signal depending on the ambient light prediction values for an upcoming ambient light prediction time period. The ambient light adjusting signal is adapted for use by an ambient light modifying element (22) for modifying the entering of ambient light into the space (1) through the opening (2). By taking the predicted ambient light conditions at the opening (2) into account, necessary adjustments can be made at temporally spaced ambient light adjusting time points, resulting in fewer disturbances of the users.

    • This invention relates to a method and system for controlling light distribution in a space including multiple installed light sources and an external light source. The luminance level of light from said light sources is measured at different measuring areas within the space. A weighed luminance level is determined for each of the measuring areas based on the measured luminance levels, where the weighted luminance level indicates the contribution from the light sources to the measured luminance level at the different measuring areas. This weighed luminance level is used as a tuning parameter for tuning the emitted light at the installed light sources such that the weighed luminance level at each of the different measuring areas substantially matches a pre-defined target luminance level at the different measuring areas.

    • A system and method is provided for improved frequency error estimation in a high-frequency data communication system. In an embodiment, a method for providing improved frequency error estimation comprises performing encoding, interleaving and symbol mapping on original information bits to form a data stream of modulated information symbols; inserting pilot symbols into the data stream at progressively longer time intervals and transmitting the data stream as a radio signal from a data transmitter to a receiver. The method further comprises using the received pilot symbols, transmitted at progressively longer time intervals to perform frequency error estimation. In certain embodiments, the received pilot symbols may also be used to perform improved channel estimation updates.

The first operation in such digital communication systems is the detection of the beginning of a valid signal (packet). The present invention provides a system, apparatus, and method for a scheme to robustly detect the preamble. The scheme of the present invention has the following advantages: it is robust to noise and interference, it provides the frequency error directly without any additional computation, it provides information that is necessary to position the FFT window for an OFDM based modulation, it provides a real part of the peak that can be used for frame synchronization, and finally, it provides the peak for burst detection purposes.
