    • Embodiments of a multiband central controller, a multiband communication station and methods for multiband network operations are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the central controller may be configured for multiband operations within non-coextensive frequency bands. The central controller may transmit a response frame to a receiving station that includes two or more multiband elements. Each multiband element includes a basic service set identification (BSSID) and may indicate an available channel and a frequency band associated with the available channel. The frequency band may be one of the non-coextensive frequency bands within which the central controller is operating. The multiband elements may provide frequency band and channel information to the station prior to the station joining a network that is managed by the central controller.

    • A network controller may schedule directional communications between two devices in its own network in such a way as to avoid potential interference from anticipated transmissions from another device. In some instances, the network controller may be one of the two devices using the directional communications. The timing of the anticipated transmissions may be determined by the network controller based on its own observations, or it may be informed of that timing in a transmission from a device in its own network. A possible format is given for transmitting that information to the network controller.

    • Apparatuses, systems, and methods that enable native MAC support of beamforming are contemplated. An embodiment may comprise a mobile computing device, such as a laptop, with wireless communications capabilities, such as an integrated wireless networking card. The networking card of the laptop may transmit and receive various types of frame data using one or more beamforming techniques. Upon establishing a link with another wireless device, the laptop may sense that the link quality is degrading. Instead of having to reestablish a new link using dedicated BF frames and the conventional BF protocol, embodiments described herein may instead transmit beamforming information in various types of frames which enable the wireless communication devices to adjust the beamforming parameters in a more efficient manner. For example, the devices may include beamforming information in control frames and data frames and transmit the frames in a sweeping sector fashion.
