    • A cylindrical can for the preparation of a battery, and its manufacturing method are provided to minimize the increase of the inner diameter and outer diameter of a battery case, thereby preventing the deterioration of energy density and improving the convenience of electrode assembly insertion. A cylindrical can(100) for the preparation of a battery comprises an opened upper part(110); a sidewall(120) forming a cylinder; and a lower surface(130) forming the lower part of the cylinder, wherein the sidewall comprises a main body part(210) where an electrode assembly is inserted, and an upper end part(220) where a bidding part and a clamping part for the mounting of a cap assembly. The thickness(t2) of the upper end part is greater than that (t1) of the main body part, the outer diameter(R2) of the upper end part is greater than that(r2) of the main body part, and the inner diameter(R1) of the upper end part is smaller than that(r1) of the main body part.
