摘要： An apparatus and method for registering the location of a multi-interface convergence terminal are provided. In a register for managing location registration information of a multi-interface convergence terminal, upon receipt of a message with the address of an AP using a short-range wireless communication protocol, a signaling processor requests a wired phone number mapped to the AP, generates a message including the wired phone number and sends the message. A register database provides the wired phone number mapped to the AP to the signaling processor and stores the address and of the AP and the wired phone number mapped to the AP address.

摘要： A method and system for providing a handoff between a mobile communication network including a mobile switching center (MSC) and a home location register (HLR), and a wireless local area network (WLAN) including an access point (AP) and a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) gateway to provide a VoIP service. The HLR registers therein subscriber information for the MT including an Internet protocol (IP) address of the AP. The MT transmits a handoff request to the MSC if the MT connected to the mobile communication network has moved to a region of the WLAN. The HLR transmits the subscriber information to the VoIP gateway. The AP allocates an IP address and a channel for WLAN access by the MT, and sets a session for a VoIP service of the MT.

In the packet voice data communication method, upon generation of voice data, a packet voice channel is assigned, and an active state is entered where packetized voice data is transmitted on the voice channel. If there is no voice data for a predetermined time period while in the active state, the assigned voice channel is released, and an inactive state is entered where no voice data is transmitted. If the next voice data is generated while in the inactive state, the voice channel active state is entered where a voice channel is assigned to transmit the next voice data, and the voice data is transmitted.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for handing-off a mobile station receiving packet data over a second channel from a first base station system (BSS) to a second BSS by a base station controller (BSC) in a system in which the mobile station communicates with the first BSS and the second BSS adjacent to the first BSS through a first channel for transmitting a control message, and the mobile station communicates with the first BSS through the second channel for transmitting the packet data. In the method, the mobile station measures receiving strengths of pilot channels transmitted from the first BSS and the second BSS, and transmits the measured receiving strengths to the BSC through the first BSS and the second BSS. The first and second BSSs each calculate available transmission power allocable to the second channel and transmits the calculated available transmission power to the BSC. The BSC calculates a sum of the available transmission power and the measured receiving strength of the pilot channel from the first BSS and a sum of the available transmission power and the measured receiving strength of the pilot channel from the second BSS. The BSC transmits a handoff indication message to the second BSS, when the sum of the available transmission power and the measured receiving strength of the pilot channel from the second BSS is higher than the sum of the available transmission power and the measured receiving strength of the pilot channel from the first BSS.
