摘要： A separator (10) for separating a heavier liquid from a lighter liquid which is intended to operate between a fuel tank (12) and a fuel pump connected to the fuel outlet (24) of the separator (10) includes a float (30) which is light enough to float on the heavier liquid and which is heavy enough to sink in the lighter liquid. The float controls opening and closing of a valve (44, 46) through which heavier liquid is disclosed from the separator. As heavier liquid accumulates, the float lifts to open the valve (44, 46). A plate (34) subjected to a force caused by fuel flowing into the separator through the inlet (16) prevents the float opening the valve whilst the separator is in sub-atmospheric pressure. The plate can be replaced by a diaphragm which is subject on one side to atmospheric pressure and on the other side to the pressure in the separator.

[Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] A boiler fired by burners 9 in the lower part of the combustion chamber comprises inclined tubes 4 connected to a steam and water drum 6 and screening the upper part of the front wall, side wall tubes 26 connected to upper and lower headers 17, 19, and back wall tubes 14 which are connected to the drum by tubes 15 crossing the upper part of the combustion chamber, and to slag screen tubes 13 opening into headers 11. Water from the drum is supplied to the headers 11 and to headers 5 at the lower ends of the tubes 4 by unheated downcomer tubes 10, 7. A superheater 21 has two rests of elements each consisting of horizontal sinuous tubes connected to headers 23, 24 and extending over half the width of the uptake. The upper and lower parts of the superheater may be separated by a wedgeshaped flue space from which a portion of the furnace gases may pass, under the control of a damper, directly into the flue beyond the superheater.
