Channels in dynamo-electric machines. - To lubricate the rotating parts of an ignition dynamo of the kind described in Specification 100,173, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.], oil is supplied through a tube 4 to a trough 46 in the coil-carrying structure 3, and passes thence through holes 47, 48, 49 to lubricate the shoulders by which the movable part 3 is supported in the magnets 1. The oil works along the shaft 23 into the ball bearings and drains away through a hole 44. To prevent the entry of foreign matter, the cover 12 is provided with a felt packing 43.

O p e n i n g - arrangements.-Apparatus for supporting butter and lard tubs, pickle jars, &c., which may be used beneath grocery-store and other counters, comprises an horizontally swinging support 10 for the receptacle R and a cover 11, which is raised automatically by a cam when the support is moved laterally. In the construction shown. the support 10 is carried by a collar 7 vertically adjustable on a shaft 6 turning in bearings 1, 3 on a wall S beneath a counter C. The cover 11 is carried by a slide 13 mounted on the shaft. When the receptacle is swung or twards, a pin 14 on the slide, engaging a stop 15 on the bracket 1, prevents lateral movement of the lid, which is raised by a cam 17 on the shaft engaging a pin 16 on the slide.

Cartridge belts.-Relates to belts formed of metal links hinged together and each provided with clips to receive a cartridge, a rearward movement of the cartridges being necessary to withdraw them from the belt. The invention consists in forming the belt of a series of interchangeable flat metal links hinged together by cotter pins arranged in the same plane as the flat links, each link having two or more pairs of integral clips which hold and position each cartridge. Fig. 1 shows a belt suitable for a Maxim or Vicker's gun, in which the links are formed of sheet-metal blanks or stampings each provided with clips b for the body c of the cartridge, and smaller clips c for the bullet f, jointing-knuckles d, d , d on the links being united by split-pins e. To ensure the proper positioning of each cartridge, the end of the cartridge case abuts against the clip c.
