    • A method of injection moulding an article, the method comprising the steps of: (a) providing an injection mould comprising first and second mould parts, and having at least one movable portion of one of the first and second mould parts; (b) disposing the first and second mould parts in a fully closed configuration so as to define mould cavity therebetween for moulding an article, in the fully closed configuration the first and second mould parts defining a cavity outer surface which defines the outer shape of the article to be moulded in the mould cavity; (c) injecting molten material into the cavity at an injection inlet of the cavity; (d) during the injecting step, moving at least one movable portion of one of the first and second mould parts from a forward position, defining the article to be moulded, to a rearward position thereby to increase the volume of the mould cavity in the fully closed configuration and to reduce the flow length/thickness ratio of the cavity; (e) filling the mould cavity with the molten material; and (f) after filling the mould cavity, returning the at least one movable portion from the rearward position to the forward position thereby expelling excess molten material back through the injection inlet.

    • An apparatus for reheating and conditioning an elongate preform for forming a blow moulded container such as a bottle, comprises a heater 20, 22 and a receiver 4 with a cylindrical elongate surface 6, (102, figure 3) which engages with a surface of an elongate preform to transfer heat to the preform by conduction. The cylindrical surface 6 may comprise the inner surface of a cylindrical cavity one end of which is in the form of a concave hemispherical surface 15 which may have a vacuum duct 30 opening. Vacuum may be applied to hold outer surfaces of the preform in contact with the receiver. At least two spaced heaters may be provided which allows for a temperature profile to be established along the length of the receiver and so the preform. Alternatively the cylindrical surface (102) may comprise the outer surface of a pin (100) which is internally heated by a fluid such as oil flowing through duct (118), preferably a baffled bore, in the pin. A thermal insulator (108) may be provided in part of the pin around the duct to prevent heating of the neck finish of the preform.

    • A lower forward part of a container (40) rests on a pivotable support (34) in a frame so as to be pivotable between an upright stowed position and a forward position allowing access. On at least one side of the container (40), a projection (31) from the side of the frame above the pivotable support (34) engages in a channel (28) on the side of the container. The channel (28) comprises an upper part, in which the projection (31) engages where the container is mounted in the frame and which is shaped to limit upward movement of the container (40) when in its upright position and to allow the container to pivot between its upright and forward position, and a lower part which extends to a bottom edge of the container (40). The lower part of the channel is open at the bottom of the container (40) to allow the container (40) to be lifted away from the support when in or adjacent its forward position.
