摘要： An improved, wholly mechanical, valve unit is provided to automatically allow for flow between a high temperature liquid line and a cooler temperature liquid line in order to maintain the immediate availability of hot liquid immediately upstream of the valve, especially for hot water used in a building. The valve unit of the present invention includes a thermally-activated, bi-metal, or more broadly bi-flexive, valve disc, and a smaller diameter valve seat that concentrically contacts the valve disc intermediate the outer circumference and the center of the disc. The bi-flexive disc is provided two-sided, circumferential support, thus substantially equalizing the pressure against both sides of the disc, even when in the closed valve position between the higher temperature, higher pressure, hot water line and the lower pressure cold water line. The valve opens when the temperature differential across the valve disc decreases below a preset amount.

摘要： The brushless DC motor of the present invention comprises a permanent magnet rotor rotating coaxially with and inside of the stator containing the electric windings, separated by a radial, axially extending gap. The rotor can be formed of four or more permanent, e.g., ferrite ceramic magnets, spaced substantially equidistantly circumferentially around the rotor and extending radially along the axial length of the rotor. The preferred ferrite magnets are substantially corrosion resistant, and thus durable in the wet rotor environment, in which it may be used, sufficient to withstand the effects of even hot salt water. Preferably, four of the permanent magnets are bar magnets, i.e., rectangular in cross-section, extending radially and perpendicularly to the adjacent magnets. Most preferably, the bar magnets are separated by generally wedge-shaped, or quadrant-shaped, sections of magnetic material. The permanent magnets are polarized so that the north-south flux lines extend transversely to each adjacent magnet, most preferably forming a so-called Halbach Array. This brushless DC motor is especially useful for driving wet rotor pumps, wherein the particular combination of elements forming the rotor results in a highly efficient, effective and durable motor

Further, there is discussed a water feed controller which can measure the amount of water added over a prior predetermined period (such as 30 days) which serves as a floating window of time so that a leak or other condition resulting in overly frequent filling can be detected quickly.

摘要： An integrated fixture for transferring heat from a higher-temperature loop to a lower-temperature loop (e.g., in radiant heating, from a heating unit loop to a radiant loop). The fixture provides a heat exchanger for transferring heat from the higher-temperature loop to the lower-temperature loop. The fixture also includes a casting, in which are formed higher-temperature supply and return ports, lower-temperature supply and return ports, a higher-temperature pump volute, and a lower-temperature pump volute. Liquid from the higher-temperature loop enters the integrated fixture through the higher-temperature supply port, passes through one side of the heat exchanger, transferring heat to liquid circulating through the other side of the heat exchanger in the lower-temperature loop, and leaves the integrated fixture through the higher-temperature return port. Liquid circulating in the lower-temperature loop enters the integrated fixture through the lower-temperature return port, receives the heat from the higher temperature liquid, and leaves the integrated fixture through the lower-temperature supply port. The invention simplifies installation by integrating into one integrated fixture all four ports and both the heating unit loop pump and lower-temperature loop pump.

The coil fitting has a housing enclosing a first tubing for directing chilled water to the fan coil and a second tubing for directing return water to the pipe circuit. A baffle is mounted radially on the end of the second tubing proximal to the pipe circuit causing a portion of the chilled water in the pipe circuit to flow into the first pipe with the return water entering the pipe circuit below the baffle so there is no mixing of return water with the chilled water entering the first tubing regardless of the direction of flow in the pipe circuit. A humidistat mounted near the load coil farthest from the chiller sends a relative humidity signal to a diverter valve that changes the direction of chilled water flow in the pipe circuit.
