Clusters of uniformly sized apertures could instead by used. By placing colour filters behind the apertures, colour displays result. The display is intended to be viewed from a distance such that the pixels merge to form a large picture-like pattern or data display. The apertures can be formed in flexible tape, which can be wound on reels to permit different pictures to be shown as required. By the use of bright sources of light to illuminate the apertures, very bright displays are produced.
