    • A display assembly includes an LCD that is transparent and has a viewing area and a blocked area which are reconfigurable. The display assembly includes a self-emissive display that is also transparent and extends along and in front of the LCD. A graphics processing unit is coupled with and controls the LCD and the self-emissive display. The LCD is controlled to allow light through the viewing area and the blocked area while the self-emissive display is off in a full analog mode. The LCD is controlled to block light through the viewing area and the blocked area while the self-emissive display is controlled to display an image in a full digital mode. Additionally, the LCD is controlled to allow light through the viewing area and block light through the blocked area while the self-emissive display is controlled to display an image in a hybrid mode.

    • An instrument lighting device configured in such a manner that even index marks disposed away from the light sources can achieve sufficient luminance using a reduced number of light sources. An instrument lighting device comprising: a pointer needle (4) mounted to a drive shaft (2) of an instrument body (3); a display panel (6) having index marks (5); a light source (7b) for lighting the index marks (5); a reflecting surface section (9) for applying the light from the light source (7b) to the display panel (6); and a reflecting wall section (10) for guiding the light from the light source (7b) toward the reflecting surface section (9). The reflecting wall section (10) comprises a circular conical first reflecting wall section (10a) for mainly lighting index marks (5) which are present in a first index mark region (N) located close to the light source (7b), and also comprises a second reflecting wall section (10b) consisting of a curved surface or a flat sloped surface for mainly lighting index marks (5) which are present in a second index mark region (F) located farther away from the light source (7b) than the first index mark region (N). The instrument lighting device can illuminate the index marks (5) on the display panel (6) by transmitted light with substantially uniform luminance.

    • Disclosed is a pointer-type meter with good uniformity of illumination of a display section even when there are few light sources, and with little or no displacement of each member when positioning is performed. A circuit board provided in the pointer-type meter comprises a first light-emitting element (332a) that emits light in a direction towards a first rotary shaft (3110). The pointer-type meter comprises: a first reflecting unit (321) positioned between the circuit board and a display plate (31) and that surrounds part of the circumference of the rotary shaft (3110) and reflects light towards the outer edge of a speed display unit (311); and a second reflecting unit (322) positioned between the circuit board and the display plate (31) and that reflects the light reflected by the first reflecting unit (321) to illuminate the speed display unit (311).
