    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel device with a built-in motor with a brake with high space efficiency. SOLUTION: A friction brake where a drive source is disposed in a rim of the wheel is built in the wheel device with built-in motor of an outer rotor type. The motor is preferably a switch reluctance motor having a structure where a stator and rotor have not a yoke for interconnecting their poles in the peripheral direction, namely a structure where the rotor pole and the stator pole are independently arranged. In the motor having such a structure, a stator core 90 forming the stator pole 66b is moved by an electromagnetic force generated by an electromagnet 130, the core 90 is used as a piston, one more piston 84 is operated by pressurizing the operating fluid stored in a closed state, and a brake pad 86 is pressed to a brake rotor.
