    • A synchronizing scheme for use in color video recording systems which employs two voltage controlled oscillators, the first being phase locked to the color burst of the incoming video signal in recording, but operating as a freerunning oscillator on playback, and the second being locked to the horizontal sync of the incoming video signal in recording and of the jitter-affected off-tape video signal in playback. The first oscillator, through the medium of frequency dividers, generates the color subcarrier and supplies the motor and servo references to the recorder, and the second oscillator serves as a clock for a sync generator producing a sync pattern. This sync pattern is used for controlling the impressing of fresh sync information on the video signal in recording, and the reinsertion of the color burst in the off-tape signal in playback, and also for providing the trisequential driving pulses required by the trisequential color processing circuitry. The sync pattern is also used to drive and synchronize an external video source, for example, a camera.

    • An improved system for magnetic recording and/or reproducing a color television signal including a luminance signal and a chrominance signal which contains a burst signal therein. Before recording the television signal, the chrominance signal is frequency-converted to a frequency band lower than its original one and the burst signal is extracted from the chrominance signal. The burst signal is then amplitude modulated by a rectangular waveform signal, derived from the horizontal synchronization signal, whose frequency is equal to two scanning line periods. The amplitude modulated burst signal is combined with the luminance signal to frequency-modulate a carrier signal having a predetermined frequency. The frequency-converted chrominance signal is gated by the rectangular wave signal and recorded along with the frequency-modulated signal on a magnetic medium. When the magnetic medium is played back, the frequencyconverted chrominance signal is frequency-reconverted to the original frequency band by means of a reference signal the phase of which is controlled by the burst signal reproduced by frequency-demodulation so that phase errors of the reproduced chrominance signal are diminished. The frequency-reconverted chrominance signal is then gated by a rectangular waveform signal derived by detecting the amplitude modulation of the reproduced, frequency demodulated burst signal. The gated, frequencyreconverted chrominance signal is then combined with a portion of the same signal delayed by one scanning line period to produce a continuous chrominance signal.

    • In a system in which at least the chrominance components of composite color television signals are recorded during alternate line intervals and omitted during the remaining line intervals to form a checkerboard array on the recording medium and are recreated by combining reproduced chrominance components with delayed replicas, additional phase inversion circuits are provided to recreate PAL signals. The red color difference components of PAL composite signals are modulated on the color subcarrier in one phase on alternate lines and the opposite phase during the remaining lines. The inversion circuits include circuits for generating two conversion frequencies of such values that one of them reconverts alternate line intervals to have one phase condition and the other reconverts the remaining line intervals to have the opposite phase condition, thus recreating a PAL signal.

    • Color signal recording of two channel color information, wherein one channel provides substantially more information than the other channel. The information is converted to a train of pulse width modulated pulses to contain the information, and with the train including more pulses for the one channel than for the other; such as two pulses for the one channel for each pulse of the other channel. Regularly recurring pulses for the two channels are shifted in phase to produce a combined pulse train in which the pulses are at regularly spaced positions. Pulses representing information in the one channel may be duplicated, or may be sampled at twice the rate, to provide two pulses for the one channel for each pulse of the other channel. The pulse train is recorded and reproduced, and then decoded to separate the pulses for the two channels and to position the pulses in each channel to provide regularly occurring pulse trains for each channel.

During reproduction, the reproduced composite signal is separated into the luminance signal component and the line sequential chrominance signal, and the latter is separated into the two chrominance signal components with the aid of a delay line.

    • The present disclosure provides for a recording device for creating an enhanced personalized image product. The recording device can include a display unit having a graphical user interface. The recording device can comprise a first camera and a second camera simultaneously recording a first image and a second image in a first person perspective and a second person perspective (or another first person perspective), respectively. A unit controller can be operatively coupled to the display unit and the recording unit. The unit controller can comprise a processor and a memory operatively coupled to the processor. The unit controller can be programmed to cause the recorded images to be generated on the display unit. The unit controller and the graphical user interface can allow a user to view the recorded images of the person and edit the recorded images on a single display unit.
