    • An image-forming apparatus includes a recording medium for electrostatic latent images, a plurality of developing devices containing a plurality of color developers, dryer means for drying the developer on the developed recording medium, and a pressure means for pressing dry toner particles against the recording medium. Since the pressure means strengthen the adhesion of the toner particles to the recording medium, different color images are superposed on the recording medium without melting the toner and transferred at one time. Therefore, this small-sized apparatus performs high-speed printing and consumes less energy.

    • A drying system and method for an imaging system (10) employing a gap drying system. The imaging system (10) includes a photoreceptor (12), such as a photoconductor belt (12). A mechanism moves the photoconductor belt in a first direction along a transport path. A scanner mechanism (24, 26, 28, 30) is positioned along the transport path for scanning a laser beam along the photoconductor belt based on image data to form a latent image of the photoconductor belt. A development station (32, 34, 36, 38) is positioned along the transport path. The development station includes a mechanism for applying a toner to a first major surface of the photoconductor belt, the toner including a carrier liquid. A gap drying system (40) is operably located along the transport path, wherein the gap drying system removes excess carrier liquid from the photoconductor belt. The gap drying system includes a carrier liquid (i.e., solvent) vapor recovery system which is integral the gap drying system, and as such, the imaging system does not require an additional separate carrier liquid recovery/condenser unit.

    • An apparatus and method for removing excess developer liquid from an imaging substrate make use of a squeegee roller (12), and means for loading the squeegee roller against the imaging substrate. The squeegee roller removes the excess developer liquid from the imaging substrate at an upstream side of the squeegee roller relative to a direction of movement of the imaging substrate. A portion of the excess developer liquid can pass to a downstream side of the squeegee roller, however, and be transferred from the squeegee roller to the imaging substrate. A second developer liquid removal mechanism is provided to remove from the imaging substrate the portion of the excess developer liquid transferred from the squeegee roller. The second developer liquid removal mechanism may comprise a second squeegee roller (14) mounted at a position adjacent the downstream side of the first squeegee roller. The second squeegee roller can include first and second squeegee sections that contact the imaging substrate at positions outside of the imaging region. The second squeegee roller can be driven in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of the imaging substrate to effectively remove the excess developper liquid.
