摘要： An optical wavelength converter device of the optical fiber type comprises a core made of a nonlinear optical material and cladding of an amorphous material and surrounding the core, the cladding having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core. Another optical wavelength converter device comprises a two- or three-dimensional optical wavelength converter device produced by growing a nonlinear optical material crystal as an optical waveguide on or in an amorphous substrate having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the nonlinear optical material crystal. Phase matching is achieved between a radiation mode of a wavelength-converted wave in the cladding or the substrate and a nonlinear polarized wave generated by a waveguide mode of first and second fundamental waves in the core or the optical waveguide.

摘要： An optical wavelength converter device comprises a cladding and a waveguide disposed in the cladding. The waveguide is made of an organic nonlinear optical material such as PRA which has a first refractive index with respect to the wave-length of the wavelength-converted wave and a second refractive index with respect to the wavelength of the fundamental wave, the first refractive index being lower than the second refractive index. Alternatively, the first and second refractive indexes are substantially the same as each other, and the cladding is made of a material which has a third refractive index with respect to the wavelength of the wavelength-converted wave and fourth refractive index with respect to the wavelength of the fundamental wave, the third refractive index being substantially the same as the fourth refractive index. The effective refractive index with respect to the fundamental wave which is guided in a zero-order mode and the effective refractive index with respect to the wavelength-converted wave which is guided in the zero-order mode are equal to each other.

摘要： An arrangement for generating light at a second harmonic of an input light at a fundamental frequency/wavelength. Light at the fundamental frequency/wavelength is generated by a laser (1) and impinges upon an input end of an optical fiber (4). The optical fiber has a non-linear optical characteristic and generates a second harmonic of the input light. The second harmonic which exits the fiber (4) has an axisymmetrical and conical equiphase wave surface. A collimator lens (5) collimates the second harmonic and parallel light rays are produced on the output side of the lens.
