    • An outer layer having an entanglement comprising an intermingling of cloaked hydrophilic guest and a hydrophobic polymer host, wherein molecules of the guest have been crosslinked with each other. Under certain circumstances, using complexes of the guest may be desirable or even necessary. The intermingling of the guest and host includes a physical tangling, whether it also comprises crosslinking by primary bonding (e.g., chemical/covalent bonding) there-between. Also a method of producing an outer layer having such an entanglement, including the steps of: temporarily cloaking at least a portion of the hydrophilic groups of the guest; intermingling at least a portion of the cloaked groups with a porous polymeric structure by diffusing the guest with cloaked groups into at least a portion of the structure's pores; within the pores, crosslinking at least a portion of the molecules of the guest with the guest; and removing the cloaking. Cloaking may be performed by silylation or acylation. Intermingling may be performed by producing a mixture of guest and host (whether in solution, powdered, granular, etc., form); next, a crosslinking of the guest with itself is performed; then, the mixture is molded into the outer layer.

    • The invention relates to a process for preparing an impact-modified plastic based on crosslinked rubber particles, where (a) an aqueous dispersion or suspension of particles of a crosslinked rubber is produced from a first monomer mixture which has less than 50% by weight, preferably less than 5% by weight, in particular less than 2% by weight, content of conjugated diene compounds; (b) where appropriate, the dispersion or suspension is precipitated, giving an aqueous rubber particle mixture with water content of at least 5% by weight; (c) the dispersion or suspension of the rubber particles or the aqueous rubber particle mixture is added to a second mixture which comprises at least one other monomer, and (d) the monomers of the second mixture are polymerized. The invention further relates to a plastic obtainable by the process.

    • The invention provides a thermoplastic resin composition characterized by both a polycarbonate resin and a styrenic resin, of which the moldings are not troubled by surface layer peeling and have good impact resistance. Even when a flame retardant is added thereto, the moldability of the composition is still good, and the moldings of the composition still have good impact resistance and aging resistance, and are recyclable. The invention also provides a non-halogen, flame-retardant polycarbonate resin composition having good flame retardancy, and its injection moldings having good impact strength and yellowing resistance even in high-temperature and high-humidity conditions and having good recyclability. The thermoplastic resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a resin mixture of (A) from 20 to 98% by weight of a polycarbonate resin and (B) from 2 to 80% by weight of a styrenic resin, from 0.1 to 20 parts by weight of (C) an epoxy-modified block copolymer and from 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of (D) a rubber-like elastomer component of a core/shell-type, grafted rubber-like elastomer. The flame-retardant polycarbonate resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a resin or resin mixture of (A) from 20 to 100% by weight of a polycarbonate resin and (B) from 0 to 80% by weight of a styrenic resin, from 1 to 30 parts by weight of (E) a flame retardant of an organic phosphorus compound, and from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of (D) an epoxy group-containing compound.
