AFTER MOLDING THE HYDROLYZED ETHYL SILICATE IS COMPLETELY DECOMPOSED TO ETHYL ALCOHOL AND HYDRATED SILICA GEL BY ACTION OF HEAT OR THE ALKALIZING AGENT WHICH CAUSES THE MIXTURE TO SET OR HARDEN. THE ETHYL ALCOHOL IS THEN REMOVED IN A CONTROLLED RATE AT 35-40*F. AND A HIGH HUMIDITY ATMOSPHERE TO AVOID CRACKING. 摘要： A method of producing a dirt-resistant cement tile and the like, preferably a cement roofing tile, in which a solution of one or more deliquescent salts, such as, for example, zinc chloride, is absorbed and adsorbed into the surface thereof to create a reservoir of the solution within the tile ad the like, thereby providing a water wetness ambient of permanence on the surface of the tile, so that any dirt deposited on the water wet surface will make a weak bond and thereby permit the normal rains to wash off the dirt accumulated on the tile surface, and the roof to become self washing.

摘要： An improved process for the preparation of an expanded water-insoluble silicate aggregate is disclosed; in this process, anhydrous alkali metal silicate is hydrated, in the presence of a curing agent, and then subjected to rapid thermal expansion. The process eliminates the use of liquid silicates and the reaction is conducted in an essentially dry state. The expanded product has extremely low bulk density.
