    • The present invention provides a meat saw for simultaneously making multiple cuts in a piece of meat and a process for cutting a piece of meat. The meat saw includes a base and a saw table supported by the base. The saw table is adapted to support the piece of meat to be sawn and contains a plurality of elongated, generally parallel apertures. A restraining member holds the piece of meat against the saw table. The meat saw further includes a plurality of spaced rotary saw blades mounted on a common rotatable shaft, the shaft being located beneath the saw table. The shaft is movably mounted on the base so that the position of the shaft relative to the saw table is continuously adjustable. The position of the shaft can be adjusted from a lower position, in which the blades do not extend above the saw table, to an upper position in which the blades extend through the apertures in the saw table and above the saw table. The blades engage and cut the piece of meat when the shaft is raised towards the upward position.

    • Apparatus for peeling onion skins from the bulbs of onions comprising conveyor means for transporting the onion bulbs from a supply thereof and a roller conveyor including a plurality of rotatable cutters. The onion bulbs are supplied by the conveyor means to the roller conveyor with a flatwise planar orientation which prevents piling of the onion bulbs on one another. The rotatable cutters slit the skins of the onion bulbs, while simultaneously compressed air is blown onto the surface of the onion bulbs by the discharge parts of air nozzles coupled to a source of compressed air. Means are provided for swinging the discharge parts of the nozzles so that the air impinges on the width of the rotatable cutters.

    • A method and apparatus for continuous cold cutting or slitting of a flat material wherein the flat material is subjected to a first step of partial-shearing or penetration in a zigzag state to a controlled depth of penetration, and subsequently to a second step of flattening, thus forcing the penetration formed in the material back to substantially the original thickness of the material, thereby to perform complete severing or slitting the material having no burrs formed during the operation. The first working action is obtained from feeding of the flat material into the controlled spacing of opposing pairs of cutter discs so that there occurs partially shearing or penetration in the flat material under an optimally predetermined interfering action by the opposing pairs of cutter discs into the material when it engages therewith. The second working action is obtained from the insertion of thus partially-sheared or penetrated material into the spacing optimally predetermined between an opposing pair of rolls having a flat cylindrical surface so that there occurs flattening action by the opposing pair of rolls over the both surfaces of the material when engaged therewith. The cutter discs and flattening rolls are controllably driven in synchronism.

    • The head compensates for variations in flatness of a table upon which a glass sheet is placed for scoring, and also compensates for bending of the rails or support structure which carry the head as it traverses the table. A jump wheel is provided on a first arm pivotally mounted in the head, which head may comprise a trolley structure, and a scoring tool is mounted in a pivoted second arm having its pivot on the first arm. A spring acts between the first and second arms to bias the scoring tool to a limit position, defined by a suitable stop, such that the force of the scoring tool on the surface of the glass is independent of vertical displacement of the scoring tool as it traverses the sheet. The first arm is also spring biased to maintain contact between the jump wheel and the glass surface. The head can be used by itself on a suitable support or bridge structure for scoring the glass in one direction, or it can be mounted in a carriage for movement of several such heads in a direction longitudinally of the glass sheet.
