    • A mulitfunction switch, especially a mirror adjustment switch for motor vehicles, containing a housing (4, 6), and an actuating element (36) which protrudes from the housing. Said actuating element is mounted on a supporting peg (12, 28) in such manner that it can pivot around two approximately vertical pivoting axes situated one on top of the other and actuates, according to pivoting, one of four switches (46), said switches being arranged at equal angle distances around the peg. The peg (12, 28) is rotationally fixed to the actuating element (36) and can rotate around a housing-fixed rotational axis. At least one additional switch (56) is provided whose function is determined by the rotational position of the peg. Housing-fixed shaped areas (40) determine the ability of the actuating element (36) to pivot by means of the interaction of said shaped areas with shaped surfaces (48).

    • A self centering, angularly displacable joystick allowing multiple compound torque profiles is provided. The self centering joystick includes a first mount and a base. The first mount located a fixed distance away from the base. The joystick extends from a restoring plate having an upper surface and a multi-faceted lower surface pivotally mounted to said first mount to partially rotate about a first axis. A linearly displaceable force plate having a substantially flat upper surface is disposed between said base and said multi-faceted surface, and a spring is provide between the base and the force plate, the spring biasing the force plate against the multi-faceted surface to provide a centering force there against. The multifaceted surface includes a center position facet oriented such that the centering force applied by the force plate is evenly distributed on each side of the first axis when said center position facet is aligned parallel with the upper surface of the force plate.

    • An electrical switch includes a housing, fixed contact elements fixed with respect to the housing, and movable contact elements movable with respect to the housing. Each of the movable contact elements is positioned directly opposite from a respective fixed contact element. An auxiliary frame is positioned within the housing and has four bearing eyes offset by 90.degree. with respect to each other. Two first pivot pins are offset by 180.degree. with respect to each other and form a first pivot axis. The two first pivot pins are rotatably received by a respective one of a first bearing eye pair of the auxiliary frame. Two second pivot pins are offset by 180.degree. with respect to each other and form a second pivot axis. The two second pivot pins are rotatably received by a respective one of a second bearing eye pair of the auxiliary frame. An actuating member is operable with the first pivot pins and the second pivots pins for moving about the first pivot axis and the second pivot axis from a neutral position to four actuating positions. In each actuating position the actuating member actuates a respective movable contact element causing the respective movable contact element to contact a respective fixed contact element for enabling a corresponding switching function.
