developing means for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive member; a cartridge frame; a grounding contact for electrically grounding to the main assembly; a charging bias contact for receiving charging bias voltage from the main assembly to be applied to the charging means; a developing bias contact for receiving a developing bias voltage to be applied to the developing means; a detection contact for permitting detection of mounting of the process cartridge to the main assembly; wherein the grounding contact, the charging bias contact, the developing bias contact and the detection contact are provided on one end, with respect to a direction of an axis of the photosensitive member, of the process cartridge in an exposed state; and wherein the developing bias contact takes a bottommost position, and the charging bias contact takes a topmost position, among the contacts in a vertical direction when the process cartridge is mounted to the main assembly; and wherein the detection contact takes a most upstream position, and the grounding contact takes a most downstream position, among the contacts, with respect to a mounting direction of the process cartridge to the main assembly.

摘要： An image forming apparatus comprises a fixing device comprising a heater for heating a sheet on which an image is formed and a non-volatile memory in which characteristic information of the heater is stored. The fixing device is replaceable. In a case where the fixing device is replaced, the image forming apparatus starts to supply power to the heater before completing to read the characteristic information from the fixing device replaced. Due to this, the image forming apparatus can promptly heat the heater of the fixing device than before.

The developing cartridge includes a housing which accommodates developer therein, a receiving member provided which couples with a force output member of an image forming apparatus to receive a driving force, a developing roller which rotates by the driving force received by the receiving member; a detectable rotary member having a first detectable portion and a second detectable portion and rotates by the driving force from a first rotational position where the first detectable portion is detected by a detection member provided in the image forming apparatus to a second rotational position where the second detectable portion is detected by the detection member, and a cut-off mechanism which cuts off a transmission of the driving force from the receiving member to the detectable rotary member in a state where the detectable rotary member is positioned in the second rational position.

The replenishment empty history recording portion records replenishment empty history information to a storage device in correspondence with one of the plurality of developer containers in which a replenishment empty state was detected in a first attachment portion. The post-empty attachment detecting portion detects whether or not a second attachment portion is in a post-empty container attached state where the developer container corresponding to the replenishment empty history information recorded in the storage device is attached to the second attachment portion. The image creation restricting portion, upon detection of the replenishment empty state, restricts an operation of an image creating device, and upon detection that the second attachment portion is in the post-empty container attached state, releases a restriction on the operation of the image creating device.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes individually replaceable image forming assemblies forming images of different colors; a storage portion that stores time when at least one image forming assembly currently loaded into the apparatus is unloaded; a calculating portion that calculates an unloaded-engine storage period, time elapsed from when a newly loaded image forming assembly is unloaded last time to when the image forming assembly is newly loaded; and a controller that performs image quality adjustment depending on the unloaded-engine storage period calculated before the newly loaded image forming assembly is used for image formation. The apparatus receives image data of an image that contains a color other than colors that currently loaded image forming assemblies form. The apparatus forms a final image based on the image data on a sheet through image forming operations on the same sheet while at least one of the loaded image forming assemblies is replaced.
