    • A bow of the compound type for use in archery, having an upper and lower limb (2, 3) pivotally mounted at opposite ends of an elongated central frame member (4) having a hand grasp portion (5) formed thereon. First and second pivot members (13, 14) having continuously variable leverage characteristics are each connected to both the upper and lower limbs (2, 3). When the drawstring (10) is pulled back toward the cocked position, the limbs (2, 3) pivot and the variable leverage pivot members (13, 14) rotate from the position of least leverage to positions of progressively greater leverage. Thus, less force is required as the drawstring (10) approaches the fully cocked position. When the drawstring (10) is released, the variable leverage pivot members (13, 14) operate in reverse to progressively increase the velocity of the drawstring (10) as it snaps from the cocked to the fully released position.

    • Embodiments include a compact compound bow. In various embodiments, the compact compound bow includes a first riser plate and a second riser plate. The bow can further include a first limb and a second limb, the first limb and second limb can be coupled to the first riser plate and the second riser plate. The bow can further include a re-locatable handle configured to be coupled to at least one of the first riser plate or the second riser plate in a first position and coupled to at least one of the first riser plate or the second riser plate in a second position. The re-locatable handle can be rotated 180 degrees from the first position to the second position. Other embodiments are also included herein.
