    • A linear recirculating roller bearing assembly comprises a bearing body having a load bearing surface and a return surface disposed substantially parallel to each other and defining a path for continuous recirculating movement of roller bearings thereabout. A plurality of substantially identical roller bearings are disposed along the path in engagement with the aforementioned surfaces. Each of the roller bearings has a longitudinal axis and includes at least two cylindrical load bearing portions and at least one cylindrical axle portion disposed intermediate the load bearing portions. The portions of each roller bearing are substantially concentric with the longitudinal axis of the latter and the axle portion has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the load bearing portions. A plurality of substantially identical retaining clips operatively interconnect each of the axle portions of adjacent roller bearings to maintain the latter in predetermined spaced relationship with their axes maintained substantially perpendicular to the aforementioned path as the roller bearings circulate thereabout. A rotatable sprocket is provided at one end, and preferably at both ends, of the bearing body to maintain the alignment of the roller bearings substantially perpendicular to their direction of travel along the aforementioned path.

    • A roller bearing assembly for reducing friction between a relatively rotatable shaft member and support member wherein the support member has a circular hole formed therein through which a portion of the shaft extends. The bearing assembly includes an elongate length of roller chain having pivotally interconnected links with rollers rotatably mounted therein. The rollers are of a diameter smaller than the difference in radii between the shaft and opening. The link side plates at opposite sides of the rollers in the chain have a width greater than the roller diameters. The roller chain is shorter than the circumference of the shaft and may be secured adjacent one of its ends to the rotating member in the assembly.

    • An axial roller bearing assembly adapted to move parallel to the axis of a shaft which carries the assembly. The shaft is circumferentially enclosed at least in part by a sleeve member which extends more than half way around the shaft and which is spaced therefrom to define between the sleeve member and the shaft longitudinal paths of movement for a plurality of rows of roller bodies. Each row of roller bodies is guided for movement along an endless path extending between the sleeve member and the shaft, around the ends of the sleeve member, and along the exterior of the sleeve member. The endless path of movement for each row of roller bodies has a load-carrying zone situated between the sleeve member and the shaft and a return zone situated at the exterior of the sleeve member. Each of the roller bodies has a central elongated portion of hourglass configuration conforming substantially to the circumferential curvature of the shaft, and this central elongated portion is situated between a pair of tapered end portions of each roller body, these end portions being symmetrically arranged with respect to the central elongated portion. The end portions and the central elongated portion of each roller body are interconnected by a pair of symmetrically arranged cylindrical portions which directly engage the external surface of the shaft and the internal surface of sleeve member at the loadcarrying zone of each endless path for each row of roller bodies.
