    • DANA 90 A load sense pressure controller used with a hydraulic control valve such as a hydraulic direction control valve includes a body in the form of a barrel having a threaded first end and a threaded second end. An externally threaded first plug is threaded into the first end of the body and an externally threaded second plug is threaded into the second end of the body. Both first and second plugs each have passages therethrough wherein the passage through the first plug is connected to the load sense passage from a valve and the passage through the second plug is connected to a tank passage in the control valve. Disposed between the first and second plugs is a piston which is biased by a coil spring toward the first plug. The piston has a stepped axially extending passage extending therethrough which is intersected by a radially extending passage. The radially extending passage normally aligns with lateral openings in the body so that when there is a load sense condition, hydraulic fluid flows through lateral openings in the body to the return passage. If the load sense pressure exceeds a selected high pressure, then all of the load sense fluid is throttled through the pressure controlling orifice in the piston to the tank passage of the control valve.

    • A fluid circuit connects a first pump to a first motor and has a control valve for controlling fluid flow to the first motor. The control valve is movable between a first position at which the first pump is blocked from communication with the first motor, a second position at which fluid flow to the motor is controllably modulated and a third position at which substantially the full output of the first pump is directed to the first motor. A valve device connects a second pump to the fluid circuit and is movable between a first position at which the second pump is in communication with a tank and a second position at which the output of the second pump is combined with the output of the first pump. The valve device is moved to the second position in response to the control valve being moved from said second position toward said third position.

    • A device for controlling the pressure of fluid applied to or the flow of fluid to a hydraulic actuator comprises a pilot valve for controlling a pressure operated main valve. A transducer converts an electrical input signal into a force which is applied to the pilot valve spool. A feedback pressure is applied to piston means on or associated with the spool to apply a force thereto in opposition to the first-mentioned force. For pressure control a pressure sensing means produces a pressure difference equal to the pressure difference between the higher and lower operating pressures of the actuator. For flow control a flow sensor produces a feedback pressure differential dependent on the flow of fluid to the actuator. Pressure and flow control can be optionally obtained by providing two pilot valves in series, one responsive to the pressure sensing means and the other responsive to the flow sensor. One of the pilot valves is set to override the feedback signal thereto, whereby the other pilot valve becomes effective as desired.
