    • The assembly includes a watertight enclosure which protects critical motor parts, such as the bearings and windings, from the water. The rotatable drive shaft of the motor extends out of the enclosure through an opening for connection with a device to be driven, and means is provided to control leakage of water into the enclosure through the opening around the shaft. The leakage control means comprises a rotating shaft seal between the margin of the opening and the shaft. Above the seal is a sump, and a pump is located within the sump, the pump being driven by rotation of the motor shaft. A liquid, either lubricant or accumulated leakage, contained in the sump is forced by the pump in the direction of the seal, and the pressure in the sump developed by the pump prevents additional leakage through the seal. Further, the pump pressure may force some of the leakage accumulated in the sump out of the enclosure through the seal.

    • PURPOSE: An underwater motor installed in a hot water circulating pump is provided to prevent an impeller from floating by closely adhering a carbon bearing to the end of a shaft through the tension of a leaf spring. CONSTITUTION: A hot water storage tank(10) stores hot water and heats the stored water. A shaft is combined with an impeller(18) by passing through a boss(15) protruded from the center of an impeller housing(14). A first metal ring(36) and a second metal ring are fitted between the shaft and the boss. A carbon bearing(32) is contacted with the upper side of the shaft. A leaf spring(34) elastically adheres the carbon bearing to the end of the shaft.

    • An electric submersible pumping system includes a motor that is filled with motor lubricant fluid and a pump driven by the motor. The electric submersible pumping system further includes a fluid expansion module connected to the motor that is designed to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the motor lubricant fluid in the motor. The fluid expansion module preferably includes a piston seal housing in fluid communication with the motor and a bag seal housing in fluid communication with the piston seal housing. The fluid expansion module further includes at least one axially movable barrier in the piston seal housing and at least one expansible barrier in the bag seal housing. The axially movable barrier and the expansible barrier cooperate to permit the expansion of the motor lubricant fluid without contaminating the motor lubricant fluid with fluids or and solids from the wellbore.
