    • There is provided a rock splitter (10) comprising a tubular housing (11) having an inner end collar (12) and an outer end collar (13). The tubular housing (11) is provided with a longitudinal inwardly disposed portion (14) resulting in a considerable amount of the wall (15) being turned into the cavity (16) defined by the housing (11). The circumference of the housing (11) is less than the length of the perimeter of its cross section such that inflation of the rock splitter (10) applies splitting force to the walls of a borehole to which it is fitted. The outer end collar (13) is provided with a flared inner end (21) which assists in the fitting of the collar (13) to the end of the housing (11) and also provided a stop to prevent the apparatus (10) from being inserted too far into a borehole. The ends of the housing (11) are sealed by the insertion of solid cylindrical plug members (22) into the ends (23) of the inwardly disposed portion (14) such that the inner wall (24) of the inwardly disposed portion (14) is pressed into sealing contact with the remainder (25) of the inner wall of the housing (11), thereby sealing the cavity (16). The outer collar (13) has drilled through the side wall thereof an aperture (31) which is continued through the wall of the housing (11) to provide fluid communication between the outside of the apparatus and the sealed cavity (16). The aperture (31) is provided with a threaded portion (32) for the attachment of a hydraulic or compressed gas supply.

    • PURPOSE: A rubber tube for crushing a base rock is provided to solve problems, which conventional methods for crushing rocks have, using rubber tube and hydraulic oil. CONSTITUTION: A rubber tube for crushing a base rock comprises rubber 33-83 weight% and filler 8.0-50 weight%. The rubber comprises natural rubber 22-72 weight%, chloroprene rubber 4.5-19 weight%, and isobutane isoprene rubber 1.0-8.0 weight% based on the entire weight of the rubber tube composition. Thermal conductor 0.5-2.6 weight%, release agent 0.4-1.2 weight%, stabilizer 0.9-34 weight%, vulcanization accelerator 0.1-0.3 weight%, and vulcanizate 0.6~3.0 weight% are added into mixture made of rubber and filler for the formation of rubber tube composition.

    • Method and apparatus for extracting blocks of stone material by means of tubular expansion devices operated at high fluid pressures. The devices are introduced at ambient pressure into cylindrical bores formed in the material to be excavated, in the region of the desired parting planes of the block from the rock. The pressure is then increased up to 100-500 bar so as to obtain parting of the block.
      Each expansion device consists of a tube of plastic material with a high modulus of elasticity provided at its opposite ends with metal sealing members which are axially bored and connected to one another by a metal rod housed inside the tube.
