    • A method and a moulding plant for manufacturing a storage container for storage of nuclear radiation material, the container having an inner container part of a first thermoplastic material, an intermediate container part of radiation inhibiting material on the outside of the inner container part, and an outer container part of a second thermoplastic material moulded onto the outside of intermediate container part. First, second, third and fourth locations are present along a circular path. First, second and third sets of outer mould means are provided at said second, third and fourth locations, respectively, for enabling injection moulding of said inner container part, said intermediate container part and said outer container part, respectively, thereat and at least one mould core or a plurality of mutually spaced mould cores being movable by means of a rotary turntable to successively move from the first location to the second location, then from the second location to the third location, then from the third location to the fourth location, and then from the fourth location back to the first location.

    • Mold for injection molding battery containers which include a plurality of thin resilient ribs integral with and projecting at acute angles from the inside walls thereof into the cell compartment(s) to hold the battery's innards therein. The core of the mold includes a compartment-shaping mandrel which in turn includes ejector bars reciprocally slideable within complementary-shaped mortises in the mandrel. Rib-forming cavities are formed in the side walls of the ejector bars. Lips at the distal ends of the ejector bars project toward the mortise walls to produce undercuts at the bases of the ribs which in turn result in the formation of ribs which are detached from the bottom of the container.

    • A battery container made of molded plastic and preferably formed in a single unitary structure. The container comprises a generally rectangular hollow container with a plurality of internal partitions formed as integral parts of the container bottom and side walls dividing the interior space into a plurality of battery cells. A plurality of ribs are formed on the mold surface that forms the bottom of the container, the ribs being in alignment with the cavities between adjacent mold cores and forming a plurality of parallel grooves in the lower surface of the container bottom. The ribs are at least as wide as the width of the cavities between adjacent cores at the top of the container so that the upper ends of the partitions formed in said cavities fit into the resulting grooves formed by the ribs when the containers are stacked on top of each other. The mold gates are formed in the centers of the ribs, and the feed nozzles extend all the way through the ribs to avoid any reduction in the groove depth due to buildup of plastic at the gates. To maintain a substantially uniform thickness in the bottom of the container in the gate regions, the corners of the mold cores are provided with recesses adjacent the gate regions, thereby increasing the thickness of the lower ends of the partitions in those regions.
