摘要： An apparatus and method are provided for visually monitoring, detecting, and/or determining the presence, absence, and/or growth of harmful or potentially harmful bacterial microorganisms beneath a wound dressing, in one example used to cover an indwelling central venous catheter or other catheter. A bacteria detection apparatus includes a barrier membrane, a permeable membrane for placement proximate a wound or a catheter insertion site, and an indicator between the barrier membrane and the permeable membrane for indicating the presence of bacteria proximate the permeable membrane. A method of using a bacterial growth detection apparatus is also provided.

摘要： A wound shield may include a conformable frame to circumscribe a wound. Any suitable dressing may be secured over the conformable frame providing separation between the wound and the dressing. The wound frame may provide pressure relief around a wound or pressure sore to permit healing, allow compression for venous ulcers, retain moisture within the wound environment, absorb exudate, relieve pain and trauma associated with dressing removal, allow debridement and application of topical medications and or other compounds or chemicals, accelerate healing and facilitate monitoring of wounds. A conformable frame may be composed of one or more layers of any suitable material and may include adhesive on one or more surfaces to secure the frame to the wound site, to secure the frame to itself and or any suitable closure element and or to secure the dressing to the conformable frame. A wound shield may be used for humans or any suitable animal.

摘要： Systems, devices, and methods are provided for monitoring wound status and progression by measuring pH levels indicated by pH-sensitive wound dressings. In some implementations, a wound is monitored by capturing an image of the pH-sensitive wound dressing and processing the captured image to determine the color of a pH indicator included on the wound dressing. The color of the indicator is determined in terms of RGB values from the image, and a pH value for the wound dressing is calculated from the dressing RGB values. The calculated pH value is then relayed to a user to be used as an indicator of wound status or health.
