摘要： Content and corresponding applications can be provided to thin-client interactive television terminals. Localization may be performed on general data feeds by applying, at a portal that receives the data feeds, localization parameters specified in a plurality of channel configuration records. The content is then provided to their corresponding head-ends. From the head-ends, the content and its application are carousel broadcasted to thin-client terminals via different data pipes. A viewer can tune to a synthetic channel having the content and application via familiar television metaphors, such as from a remote control or from an electronic program guide. The viewer's interaction with the content can be limited to a walled garden.

Software or other techniques/tools processes the participant input stored in the server to sort, identify, classify, or select submissions that may be appropriate to address during the interactive show or during other times. While the participant input is being processed, the participant who sent the submission need not be kept on hold or otherwise have to keep the line of communication open, and instead, the participant can terminate the communication with the interactive show. An alert can be subsequently sent to the participant if or when the participant's submission is to be addressed in the interactive show.

摘要： An advertising service presents an interactive advertisement to a customer, such as via a television commercial. If the customer indicates an interest in the advertised product by responding to the advertisement, then the advertising service or other mechanism identifies the customer, correlates the customer to a merchant, and then automatically connects the customer to the merchant (or triggers connection of the merchant to the customer). The customer may be identified by extracting an identification number, address, or other identifying information associated with a client terminal that the customer used to respond to the advertisement. Correlation of the customer to the merchant may be performed by a database lookup to match customer information to merchant information. Thereafter, the merchant can be notified by the advertising service to contact the customer to fulfill the customer's response in a personalized and interactive manner.

Information related to the television commercial may be saved in a shopping cart for subsequent processing. Later, when the viewer wishes to continue the transaction or view the television commercial, the viewer may retrieve the shopping cart information, replay the television commercial, and then complete of the previously deferred transaction.

摘要： An ITV system having a plurality of channels is provided. A visual card (36a-e) is created for each channel, each visual card including a graphical representation (38a-e) of the channel. The visual cards may be linked together (40a) or grouped in one or more sequences (48a). One or more visual cards from one or more sequences may be displayed across the GUI, with one visual card being displayed within a focus area. In response to a single user action, the visual cards within a particular sequence may be successively displayed within the focus area. When the user sees a visual card representing a desired channel, the user takes some additional action and the successive display of visual cards is discontinued in which the user may select the channel represented by the visual card.
