摘要： An image data input portion captures one line of data. The captured RGB data is color-converted into image information of a different set of colors, through the image processing portion. The converted data is written at a set up address on an HD. One page of image information is written onto the HD whilst the HD's address is sequentially incremented by 2. When two colors of data need to be retrieved in parallel from the HD, the data of the colors can be alternately written in. A CPU controls tandem recording units Pa, Pb, Pc and Pd so as to perform printing of respective colors, with a time shift one to the next of a period equal to the pitch of photoreceptor recording units.

摘要： A sheet discharging apparatus has a plurality of trays for receiving sheets from an image forming apparatus and discharge rollers corresponding to the respective trays. The discharge rollers are rotatable in forward and reverse directions. The sheet discharging apparatus has a transport path for connecting the trays and a sheet discharge opening of the image forming apparatus. A gate for switching the destinations of sheets is disposed at each branched point in the transport path. A selected tray for finally receiving sheets is selected from the trays, and a temporary tray is selected from the trays other than the selected tray. A sheet is temporarily fed in a non-reversed state to the temporary tray from the image forming apparatus. Then, by rotating the discharge rollers in the reverse direction, the sheet is discharged in a reversed state to the selected tray from the temporary tray. A tray which can efficiently execute reverse discharge processing is appropriately specified according to the selected tray. It is thus possible to discharge sets of sheets with their image-formed side facing downward in page order without using a special switchback mechanism or decreasing the sheet output speed from the image forming apparatus.

摘要： In an image-forming system, when the user inputs an instruction for image processing to an input section in a digital copying machine, the control section of the digital copying machine outputs image information of a document to a host computer. The host computer carries out a predetermined image process on the inputted image information, and outputs the processed image information to the digital copying machine through a transferring device. The control section of the digital copying machine supplies the processed image information to an image-recording section, and the image-recording section forms a visual image based on the image information. With this arrangement, merely by installing necessary processing functions in the host computer, it becomes possible to eliminate the need for purchasing a new digital copying machine to replace the older one with relatively outdated functions, and also to reduce the burden on users on an economic basis.

Some of the image forming apparatuses carry out image processing in a distributed manner with respect to image information that has been inputted to one of the image forming apparatuses and corresponds to a plurality of pages. The processing capacity levels fall within a permissible range. Such an arrangement causes (1) to shorten the time required for processing to be carried out within the image forming system and (2) for the image-processed image information to be substantially the same level over the entire pages.

摘要： A charger charges a recording medium before irradiation of light to form an electrostatic latent image by irradiating light as an optical image onto a surface of the recording medium. The charger includes a discharging electrode having a plurality of projections for generating corona discharge to charge the recording medium surface, a conductive shield case having an opening face opposite to the recording medium and opposed to the discharging electrode, a holding member for holding the discharging electrode in the shield case in a state in which the discharging electrode is electrically insulated from the shield case, a conductive grid electrode electrically insulated and held between the discharging electrode and the recording medium, and a power supplying device for supplying a high voltage for discharge to the discharging electrode and setting a ratio of electric currents flowing through the grid electrode and the shield case such that these electric currents are approximately equal to each other. One form of the charger controllably moves the discharger electrode toward the recording medium for setting the value of the electric currents flowing through the grid electrode and the shield case until they are both equal to a predetermined reference value.

摘要： The present invention provides a transmission apparatus and method which realize a redial function and prevents the leakage of transmission information to the outside by inhibiting the display of the information including a destination to which retransmission is made, when it is determined that a predetermined condition is satisfied, whereby security can be enhanced.When the transmission of image data is not completed, a control section performs a retransmission process for transmitting again the image data to the same destination with the use of the redial function, and counts the number of times of the transmission. The control section determines whether the number of times of the transmission is greater than a predetermined value or not. When the number of times of the transmission is greater than the predetermined value, the control section reports a transmission error and deletes the information including the destination.
