摘要： In a digital broadcasting signal receiving/recording/reproducing apparatus, a recorded program can be immediately reproduced without performing complicated operations. Only a desired program and information related to the desired program are separated to be extracted from the digital broadcasting signal. Then, the separated/extracted broadcasting signal is supplied to a recording/reproducing apparatus. In the recording/reproducing apparatus, the supplied broadcasting signal is recorded, and the recorded program can be immediately reproduced without complicated manipulating operations during the signal reproducing operation.

摘要： A thermally-assisted recording (TAR) head for recording data in data tracks of a TAR disk is supported on an air-bearing slider and includes the magnetic write pole, a near-field transducer (NFT), an optical waveguide that directs laser light to the NFT, and an electrically conductive layer between and in contact with the NFT and the write pole. The NFT has an output tip having a generally triangularly-shaped end at the slider's air-baring surface (ABS). The electrically conductive layer is located between the NFT and the write pole and contacts both the NFT output tip and the write pole. The electrically conductive layer has a contact edge that is generally parallel with the ABS but recessed from the NFT output tip end and a cross-track width greater than the cross-track width of the NFT output tip end.

摘要： Provided is a structure of a heat assisted magnetic recording head gimbal assembly that allows common inexpensive TE-mode LDs to be utilized. The heat assisted magnetic recording head gimbal assembly comprises: a light source unit having a light emitting element mounted on a parabolic solid submount; a heat assisted magnetic recording head comprising a magnetic recording element, a read element, a near field transducer, and a waveguide for guiding light from the light emitting element into the near field transducer; a slider including the heat assisted magnetic recording head and which flies above a disk; and a suspension for supporting the slider. The light emitting element of the light source unit is an edge-emitting LD and the light source unit is arranged on the opposite side of an bearing surface of the slider such that the light emitting surface of the light emitting element faces the slider, apertures are created in the suspension, and the slider is connected to the suspension in a way that a part of the light source unit penetrates through the apertures of the suspension.

摘要： A homeotropic alignment liquid crystal film is provided with a liquid crystalline substance containing a side chain liquid crystalline compound having an oxetanyl group, as a constituent, aligned homeotropically on an alignment substrate while being in a liquid crystal state and fixed in the homeotropic alignment by allowing the oxetanyl group to react. Thus, the homeotropic alignment liquid crystal film can be stably produced without necessitating a complicated step such as light irradiation under an inert gas atmosphere and is excellent in alignment retainability after being fixed in the homeotropic alignment and in mechanical strength.

An upper part of the high-refractive-index core is placed between two thin-film-like cores.
