    • A radio station equipped with an array antenna, when transmitting an information symbol sequence to a particular radio station, uses a plurality of vectors, which are produced based on a propagation channel characteristic established between these radio stations, to simultaneously transmit a plurality of symbol sequences, which include the information symbol sequence, by way of vector multiplexing, thereby causing the particular radio station to receive the information symbol sequence, while causing other radio stations of different propagation channels to simultaneously receive a part or all the plurality of symbol sequences. Thus, when data is transmitted to a particular radio station via a radio communication channel, the concealment of information can be secured with a high level of security.

    • A method for communicating in a communication apparatus includes receiving an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal transmitted from a base station, the OFDM signal including a plurality of carrier groups, each carrier group including a plurality of carriers. The plurality of carrier groups are assigned transmission data for a plurality of communication apparatuses, and each of the plurality of carrier groups adopts one of a first transmission mode in which the transmission data is transmitted using one modulated signal and a second transmission mode in which the transmission data is transmitted using a plurality of modulated signals. A carrier group, to which transmission data for the communication apparatus is assigned, is specified based on control information included in the received OFDM signal. Reception data associated with the specified carrier group is generated by decoding the one modulated signal used in the first transmission mode, when the first transmission mode is adopted for the specified carrier group, and reception data associated with the specified carrier group is generated by decoding the plurality of modulated signals used in the second transmission mode when the second transmission mode, is adopted for the specified carrier group.

    • Provided is a MIMO communication device which can maintain the MIMO communication characteristic at a certain level regardless of the device installation position. The MIMO communication device (100) includes antenna elements (101-1, 101-2) as a first and a second antenna element which are arranged on a single straight line and an antenna element (102-1) or an antenna element (102-2) as a third antenna element which is arranged out of the straight line. A MIMO modulation unit (105) is connected to all the antenna elements. This assures that there exists a combination of antennas having other than 0 as a matrix expression of a channel estimation matrix in a propagation path between the MIMO communication device (100) and the communication partner regardless of the installation position of the MIMO communication device (100) with respect to a communication partner. As a result, it is possible to realize the MIMO communication device which can maintain the MIMO communication characteristic at a certain level or above regardless of the device installation position.
