    • PURPOSE:To provide a flow meter having a function of easily and exactly estimating pipe length regardless of the piping length even in the case of increase in number of branches in the piping. CONSTITUTION:When the length of downstream piping 23 is measured, a gas cock 22 is closed. Then sound wave is generated from a sound source 13 in a flow meter 10 with variation of frequency and pressure fluctuation is generated. With a pressure sensor 14, pressure fluctuation amplitude (P1) is detected and with a pressure sensor 16, pressure fluctuation amplitude (P2) is detected. A pressure fluctuation ratio of them (P2/P1) is calculated for every frequency and the resonance characteristics of the downstream piping 23 is calculated. When the length of upstream piping 21 is measured, a gas cock 24 is closed. Then sound wave is generated from a sound source 15 in a flow meter 10 with variation of frequency and pressure fluctuation is generated. A pressure fluctuation ratio (P2/P1) is calculated for every frequency and the resonance characteristics of the downstream piping 21 is calculated.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the measurement precision for a low flow rate range by a current sensor and at the same time make measurement possible for a large flow rate range and thus measure flow rate in a wide range precisely. CONSTITUTION:In a sensor unit 13, three current sensors 121-123 for a low flow rate range and an eddy detecting sensor 18 for a large flow rate range are installed. In a small flow rate range covering a set flow rate or less, current speed is measured at a plurality of points in the same cross-section in a pipeline 11 by the current sensors 121-123, the average of these measured values is computed, and the flow rate is computed based on the average current speed value. Meanwhile, in a large flow rate range, frequency (the number of eddies) of Karman vortexes is detected when a gas (a) passes both sides of the sensor unit 13 and the flow rate is computed based on the detected result.
