    • A steam turbine includes two or more rotating blades and a diaphragm outer ring. Each of the rotating blades includes a tip cover, moisture-trapping grooves, a droplet ejection hole, and a drain guide groove. The tip cover is provided to a tip of each of the rotating blades and is connected in contact with another tip cover adjacent to the tip cover. The moisture-trapping grooves are formed in a longitudinal direction of each of the rotating blades. The droplet ejection hole is to connect an outside of the tip cover on a side of the diaphragm outer ring with an inside of the tip cover. The drain guide groove is to connect ends of the moisture-trapping grooves on the side of the tip cover with the droplet ejection hole. The diaphragm outer ring includes a drain pocket which faces the droplet ejection hole.

    • A measuring circuit system in a magnetic field measuring apparatus of the invention has an amplifier and a band-pass filter connected in sequence on an output terminal side of the TMR element, the band-pass filter is a narrow-range band-pass filter such that a peak pass frequency of the filter that is a center is a basic frequency selected from a range of 10 to 40 GHz and a band width centered around the basic frequency is a narrow range of ±0.5 to ±4 GHz; and with the measuring circuit system, an SIN ratio (SNR) of 3 dB or greater is obtained, the SNR being defined by a ratio of an amplitude S of a high-frequency generated signal induced by the TMR element to a total noise N that is a sum of a head noise generated by the TMR element and a circuit noise generated by the amplifier. With such a configuration, an in-plane high-frequency magnetic field generated by a microwave-assisted magnetic head is reliably and precisely measured.

    • A printing state automatic switching apparatus includes a printing state switching unit, abnormal end detection unit, and error recovery unit. The printing state switching unit automatically switches the printing state of a printing press from a first printing state to a second printing state through a plurality of switching steps. The abnormal end detection unit detects an abnormal end of each switching step of automatic switching from the first printing state to the second printing state. When the abnormal end detection unit detects an abnormal end of a switching step, the error recovery unit receives an error recovery instruction and eliminates the error of the switching step. A printing state automatic switching method is also disclosed.

    • A microwave assisted magnetic head is formed to include a main pole magnetic layer including a main pole; a shielded magnetic layer including a shielded pole; a recording coil that is formed to generate a writing magnetic field from a tip of the main pole; and a microwave radiation waveguide made of a conductive nonmagnetic material that is disposed in a recording gap, the recording gap being a gap between the main pole and the shielded pole. The main pole magnetic layer and the shielded magnetic layer have an intermediate connection part that connects the layers at a depth-side, and an electrical insulation magnetic film is disposed in the intermediate connection part, and the main pole and the shielded pole are electrically connected with the microwave radiation waveguide that is disposed in the recording gap, which is the gap between the main pole and the shielded pole so that a simple configuration, with a relatively easy and efficient manufacturing process, is realized that overlaps AC magnetic fields in an in-plane direction of a microwave band, which is the same as, or close to, a ferromagnetic resonant frequency of a medium recording layer.

    • A method and a system for simply and automatically detecting the positions of eyes, mouth, and nose in a face image with high reliability are provided. A plurality of grayscale images with gradually varying lightness are formed from a face image. Then, a process (fade-in process) is performed which detects pixel block areas that gradually appear in a face area in the grayscale images as the face area that is in a fade-out state at high lightness fades in and is brought into a fade-in state at low lightness. The detected pixel block areas include paired pixel block areas appearing as a pair. The positions of the eyes are determined based on the number of appearance of the paired pixel block areas over all the grayscale images. The positions of the mouth and nose are determined based on the positional relationship between the eyes and pixel block areas which are detected by the fade-in method and in which gradually appearing pixels no longer grow.
