摘要： Two light signals pass through a series connection of a first multimode optical fiber, a first polarizer, a Faraday sensor device, a second polarizer and a second multi- mode optical fiber in opposite directions. The polarization axes of the two polarizers are set at a polarizer angle .eta. or .theta. to the natural axis of the linear birefringence in the sensor device with cos(2.eta. + 2.theta.) = -2/3. The measuring signal is derived as the quotient of two linear functions of the light intensities of the two light signals after passing through the series connection.

摘要： After passing through a Faraday sensor device (3), linearly polarised measuring light (L) is broken down in an analyser (7) into two diffently polarised partial light signals (L1, L2). The intensity of the corresponding electric signals (I1, I2) is normal by dividing their alternating signal component by their direct signal component. A measuring signal S = (2*S1*S2)/((S2-S1)+K*(S1+S2)) is derived from the two normalised intensity signals, in which cos(2.theta.+2)=-2/(3K) and sin(2.theta.-2)=1 stand for a correction factor K, an injection angle between the polarisation plane of the injected measurement light (L) and a proper axis of the linear double-fraction in the sensor device (3) and a decoupling angle .theta. between this proper axis and a natural axis of the analyser (7).

摘要： The invention concerns a method of measuring an alternating current (IA) in a conductor (2), the method calling for the plane of polarization of linearly polarized light to be rotated through a measuring angle (ALPHA) in a Faraday element (3) surrounding the conductor (2). This light with rotated polarization is divided into two light signals (LS1, LS2) with planes of polarization at right angles to each other, and the corresponding electrical signals (S1, S2) produced by conversion in optoelectric converters (12, 22) are split into their direct signal components (D1, D2) and their alternating signal components (A1, A2). The invention calls for the quotients5 ((A1-A2)/(Al+A2) and ((D1-D2)/(D1+D2)) of the differences and sums of the alternating signal components (A1, A2), as well as of the direct signal components (D1, D2) to be determined. A temperature-compensated measuring signal (SA) is derived from the quotients of the direct signal components ((D1-D2)/(D1+D2)) and the quotients of the alternating signal components ((A1-A2)/(A1+A2)).
