    • A method of preparing recipes for operating a metrology tool, each recipe including a set of instructions for measuring dimensions in a microelectronic feature. A database includes a plurality of known instructions with best known methods for measuring different feature dimensions by creating a summary of a recipes used by the tool, and adding categorization attributes to identify the summary for retrieval from the database. There is provided a desired recipe having instructions for measuring desired dimensions, including a summary of parameters relating to tool function for the feature dimension to be measured. The method includes comparing the instructions in the desired recipe with the instructions in the database, identifying differences there between, modifying the desired recipe instructions to conform to the database instructions, verifying the desired recipe prior to using the modified desired recipe by the tool, and using the desired recipe to execute a feature measurement on the tool.

    • A flexible disposable spout removably mounted to the inwardly extending flanges found in certain types of cans, particularly paint cans, to ensure that its contents are properly poured out and no contact is made with the can itself. The spout has a cylindrical or frustoconical shape with two ends. At least one of the ends has two parallel and peripherally extending ridge members that are kept at a predetermined spaced apart relationship with respect to each other to cooperatively engage with the inwardly extending flange defining the can opening. The other end may be designed to also accept the same type of inward flange for an opening of a different size typically associated with a can of a different capacity or the same capacity with different opening dimensions. Thus the spout's cylindrical portion has a frustoconical shape. The peripheral ridge member farthest from the end is larger in longitudinal height than the one adjacent to the end so that it acts as a stopper against the inwardly extending flange when spout is pushed through the can's opening. The separation between the ridge members of the distal end, not engaged to the can, block the running of any residual paint down the spout.

    • Fiber, fabric, clothes, and shoes having a material incorporated therein which, when stimulated by energy, emits a predetermined spectrum having a first electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength range selected from the group consisting of about 0.2 .mu.m to about 50 .mu.m, and about 0.4 .mu.m to about 25 .mu.m, and a second radiation having a wavelength range selected from the group consisting of about 7500 .mu.m to about 100,000 .mu.m, and about 5400 .mu.m to about 500,000 .mu.m, similar to radiation generated by the human body over similar ranges. A reflecting layer is adjacent to a fabric having the material incorporated therein such that body heat is conserved so as to achieve a therapeutic result. The energy stimulating the material can be body heat, electrical heat, magnetic energy, or other energy forms.

    • A method and associated apparatus for topographically characterizing a workpiece. The workpiece is scanned with a scanning probe along a first directional grid, thereby scanning a reference surface and an area of interest subportion of the reference surface, at a variable pixel density including a first pixel density outside the area of interest and a second pixel density inside the area of interest to derive a first digital file characterizing topography of the workpiece. The workpiece is further scanned along the reference surface and the area of interest with the scanning probe along a second directional grid that is substantially orthogonal to the first directional grid and at a constant pixel density to derive a second digital file characterizing topography of the workpiece. A processor executes computer-readable instructions stored in memory that generate a topographical profile of the workpiece in relation to the first and second digital files.
