    • A cradle for use with a radiation conversion device includes a cradle for carrying out charging of a radiation conversion device, the cradle being disposed in the vicinity of an image capturing apparatus which captures a radiation image of a subject, the radiation conversion device detecting radiation that has passed through the subject and converting the radiation into image information. The cradle includes a charging processor for carrying out charging with respect to a battery mounted in the radiation conversion device, an image information acquisition unit for acquiring the image information from the radiation conversion device, a correction information generating unit for generating correction information with respect to the radiation conversion device using the acquired image information, and a correction information memory for storing the generated correction information in association with the radiation conversion device.

    • A transportable electronic cassette and an image reading device carry out communication by laser light between themselves, with the separation distance to the casing of the opposing device detected by separation distance sensors provided respectively to the electronic cassette and the image reading device. The value of the separation distance detected is monitored to see whether or not the separation distance exceeds a reference value of the detected value at the start of communication by a specific value or more.     • A radiation conversion device is driven by an on-board battery, detects radiation that has passed through a subject, and converts the radiation into image information. A charging cradle to which the radiation conversion device is connected carries out a charging process on the battery. The radiation conversion device includes a signal transmitting unit for transmitting image information by wireless communications to an external apparatus, a transmission suspension unit for monitoring a transmission state of the image information by the signal transmitting unit and suspending transmission of the image information when a transmission error is generated, and a suspension release unit for releasing suspension of transmission of the image information when the radiation conversion device is connected to the charging cradle. The signal transmitting unit transmits the image information to the external apparatus when suspension of transmission of the image information has been released.

A partner device emits laser light and modulates the laser light in accordance with transfer subject information. Relative positions of the partner device and the device are adjusted to a communication-possible position, at which the laser light from the partner device is incident in a light reception region of the device. In this state, the reception section receives the transmission subject information from the partner device by detecting the incident laser light and demodulating the transmission subject information therefrom. The reception condition detection section detects a deterioration in a reception condition. If a deterioration in the reception condition is detected, the control section produces a warning or stops emissions of laser light from the partner device.
