    • Additive information for restoring the contour of image is generated and embedded in the image data. The format of the additive information is determined beforehand. When a hard copy is produced, the additive information is extracted from received image data. The additive information is for example very small characteristic points of a density different from the density assigned for image data and arranged inside the contour. The image data are restored according to the extracted additive information. The additive information can be generated for example from the code information for generating patterns such as control points data of outline font. For a half-tone image, a plurality of density bands are assigned to the additive information. A read error is detected by comparing the restored image with the received image data.

    • In an image processor, a scramble device performs scramble processing to deform a document image by using scramble conditions by rearranging pixel data in the document image read by a reader. The scramble conditions are embedded in a hard copy of the document image subjected to the scramble processing in such a way that the scramble conditions cannot be easily seen by the naked eye. Thus, the scramble conditions are included in the hard copy. The hard copy is reproduced by using the scramble conditions restored from the hard copy. If a user desires, the scramble processing is performed not on a front page, but on the following pages. The scramble processing can be performed at different levels, and the scramble conditions include a level of scramble processing. Preferably, special marks can be registered, and a level of scramble processing is also registered for each of the marks. If one of the special marks are extracted from a document image, the repetition time is determined automatically according to the registered data.

    • A font management system includes a font memory for storing a plurality of fonts each having a plurality of attributes and a system RAM containing a priority register table. The font memory has a receiving buffer in which is stored a font selection code transmitted from a host computer. The font selection code contains attribute information and is used to select a single font from among the plurality of the fonts. The system further includes a central control operation unit, in which the attribute information contained in the font selection code is compared with attribute information stored in the font memory in the order of priorities of the fonts stored in the system RAM. The system can select a desired font having attribute information in agreement with the attribute information contained in the font selection code at a high speed.
