    • A fixing apparatus includes: a heating rotator, a pressurizing rotator and a fixing housing. The heating rotator is configured to be rotatable about a first rotational axis and has a peripheral surface heated by a heat source provided inside or outside of the heating rotator. The pressurizing rotator is configured to be rotatable about a second rotational axis parallel to the first rotational axis. The pressurizing rotator forms a fixing nip in conjunction with the heating rotator. The fixing housing is configured to accommodate the heating rotator and the pressurizing rotator. The heating rotator, the pressurizing rotator and the fixing housing form a fixing rotator unit. The fixing rotator unit is configured to be withdrawable from an apparatus main body of an image forming apparatus and such that the peripheral surface of the heating rotator is exposed when the fixing rotator unit is withdrawn from the apparatus main body.

    • Systems and methods are provided for a flexible and scalable operating system achieving a fast boot. A computing system is described that includes a reserved static object memory configured to store predefined static threads, and a secure kernel configured to be executed in a fast boot mode. The secure kernel further may be configured to chain the static threads to a secure kernel thread queue stored in a secure kernel work memory, and to create temporary threads in the secure kernel work memory during the fast boot mode. The computing system may include a main kernel configured to be initialized by creating dynamic threads in a main kernel work memory during the fast boot mode. The main kernel may be configured to chain the static threads to a main kernel thread queue, and to assume control of the static threads from the secure kernel.

    • A terahertz wave detector is for detecting a terahertz wave which is emitted from a terahertz wave generator and which is transmitted through a sample. The timing, at which a probe light is irradiated on an optical switching device in the terahertz wave detector, is vibratingly varied by driving a movable reflector in a variable optical delay device at a predetermined vibration frequency. The resultant detection signal generated thereby and changing periodically and vibratingly is subjected to frequency analysis by a spectrum analyzer in a spectroscopic processor. The detection signal has the same temporal waveform as that of the terahertz wave and subjected to scale conversion. Therefore, the frequency analysis of the detection signal enables frequency measurement of a terahertz wave in real time. As a result, real-time spectroscopy is possible, and the device configuration is simplified.
