    • The present invention relates to a method and a communication network node for enabling auto-tuning of preamble sequences used during random access procedures when user equipments (18) are accessing a communication network system comprising radio base stations (15) each serving at least one cell (19) and with which said user equipments (18) are communicating on uplink (13) and downlink (12) channels. An initial set of RACH preamble sequences in one cell of a radio base station (15) and statistics on RACH usage and information on identified RACH preamble sequences potentially conflicting between neighbors of said radio base station (15) is collected. The collected statistics is used for optimizing said set of RACH preamble sequences, whereby the initial set of RACH preamble sequences is replaced with the optimized set of RACH preamble sequences.

    • A method in a radio network node for identifying a candidate cell for handover of a user equipment is provided. The radio network node receives, from the user equipment, a first cell identifier associated with the candidate cell. The radio network node signals a cell identification request to at least one base station serving a cell using the first cell identifier. The cell identification request comprises a user equipment identifier associated with the user equipment (102), and requests any cell wherein the user equipment associated with the user equipment identifier can be detected. The radio network node receives a cell identification response comprising a second cell identifier associated with a detecting cell, served by a detecting base station, wherein the user equipment associated with the user equipment identifier is detected. The radio network node then identifies the candidate cell based on the received second cell identifier.

    • Neighbor cell relation lists are initialized and managed in various ways that are especially beneficial to closed subscriber group (CSG) cells served by CSG base stations. Typically, only a radio terminal belonging to the CSG is permitted to access and receive service from the CSG cell. As a result, information is provided to radio terminals in the cells neighboring the CSG cell that generally indicates that radio terminals are not to report to a respective serving base station signal quality measurements of a signal received from the CSG base station unless the radio terminal is a member of the closed subscriber group for the CSG cell. When a CSG cell is powered-up, it is determined whether the CSG cell has previously been powered-on in the same environment. If so, the neighbor cell relation information for the CSG cell is updated with other network node(s). If not, neighbor cell relations of the CSG cell are initialized. In one example, when a new neighbor cell relation has been added to its neighbor cell relation list, the CSG base station inherits neighbor cell relation list entries from the newly-added neighbor cell.

    • The invention relates to a technique for mobile assisted handover in mobile communications networks, e.g. Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks, in a situation of an ongoing data reception or data transmission of a mobile terminal which hinders reception of system information from a candidate cell for handover. A method embodiment of such technique is performed in a mobile terminal and comprises the steps of accepting information related to an ongoing data reception/transmission from at least one data reception/transmission component of the mobile terminal; establishing if the ongoing data reception/transmission enables a reception of a unique cell identifier indicating a candidate cell for handover; selectively halting the ongoing data reception/transmission, receiving the unique cell identifier of the candidate cell, and resuming afterwards the data reception/transmission.
