    • PURPOSE: To increase the volume efficiency without yarn breakage and obtain the titled high-performance fibers, by spinning pitch into pitch fibers, winding the pitch fibers onto a cylindrical bobbin having heat resistance of a specific temperature or above, infusibilizing the wound fibers and directly carbonizing the fibers.
      CONSTITUTION: Tetrahydroquinoline is added to coal based pitch and the resul tant pitch is heat-treated to give a spinning pitch, which is then spun into fibers at 360°C. The spun fibers are then wound around a cylindrical bobbin having ≥900°C heat resistance to afford pitch fibers, which are in a state wound around the bobbin are fed into an infusibilizing furnace and kept at 300°C for 1hr to carry out infusibilization. The fibers in the wound state are fed into carboniza tion furnace and carbonized in N
      2 atmosphere while heating at ≥850°C to afford the aimed carbon fibers.
