    • A smaller mating force connector assembly includes a first connector having a housing and a sliding frame formed with a cam groove, and a second connector having a boss movable along and within the cam groove. The first connector housing receives the sliding frame when the first connector mates with the second connector. The housing of the first connector has a first bracket and the sliding frame has a second bracket. Each bracket has a through hole for receiving a securing bolt the brackets overlap one another so that the through holes align with each other when the first connector housing receives completely the sliding frame. The bracket of the first connector is formed with a recess which fits with the second bracket of the sliding frame when the first connector housing receives completely the sliding frame. The sliding frame has a pair of side plates each formed with the cam groove and a front plate joined to each of the side plates by means of a compensating rib. The second bracket of the sliding frame is extending perpendicular to the front plate.

    • A connector lock structure includes a female connector housing (10) having a connector fitting chamber (11), a male connector housing (4) having an engagement projection (9), and a slide member (3) mounted on the female connector housing for sliding movement in a direction perpendicular to a connector fitting direction. An elastic lock arm (13) is formed on the female connector housing (10), and a flexure reception portion (17) for receiving the lock arm is provided at the slide member (3). The engagement projection (9) raises the lock arm (13) into the flexure reception portion, and an inner side surface of the flexure reception portion (17) abuts against a side surface of the lock arm. That portion of a bottom surface (19) of the slide member, disposed adjacent to the flexure reception portion (17), abuts against that surface of the lock arm (13) facing in a direction of flexing of the lock arm. A slide protuberance (8) is formed on the male connector housing (4), and a guide groove (23) is formed in the female connector housing (10), and a provisionally-retaining arm (24) is formed on the slide member (3). The provisionally-retaining arm is engaged in the guide groove (23), and is pressed by the slide protuberance (8), thereby canceling a provisional retainment.

    • In a waterproof connector, relief portions are notched in an insertion-side end of a packing, and when the packing is fitted on an inner tubular portion of a male connector housing, support post portions of a lock arm, formed on the outer periphery of the inner tubular portion, pass through the relief portions, respectively. With this arrangement, the lock arm can be disposed closer to the front end of the male connector housing, and therefore the housing can be formed into a compact size in accordance with the minimum size of the inner tubular portion for receiving and holding connection terminals.

    • A female connector housing has male terminals attached thereto and is closed by a cover member, the cover member being allowed to be opened and closed. A male connector housing is inserted into an insertion portion of the female connector housing, so that female terminals are attached to the male terminals. The insertion portion of the female connector housing is opened in such a direction as to face downward when installed. Both the female connector housing and the male connector housing have outlets for holding the electrical cables connected to the male and female terminals on a side that faces downward when installed. Since a connector is opened only at a lower portion thereof, waterdrops falling down from above can in no way enter into the connector.

    • A connector is constructed to prevent an electronic circuit from being erroneously activated due to electric current induced when a female connector housing and a male connector housing are disconnected from each other, and moreover, ensure that a locked connection detecting circuit is activated when both the connector housings are connected to each other in the locked state. The connector includes a male connector housing having a flexible locking arm and chambers for respectively receiving a plurality of terminals; a female connector housing having an engagement member for engaging the flexible locking arm of the male connector housing; a lock detecting member for detecting a locking condition of the male and the female connector housings by releasing the lock detecting member from the male connector housing when the female connector housing is connected to the male connector housing; and a short circuit member for short-circuiting terminals accommodating the receiving chambers of the male connector housing when the male connector housing and the female connector housing are in a disconnected state, and for short-circuiting the terminals of the female connector housing to complete a lock condition detecting circuit when the male connector housing and the female connector housing are in a connected and locked condition.
