摘要： A method is disclosed for the protection of catalytic converters for exhaust gas purification by measuring the temperature with a heat tone sensor suitable particularly for the implementation of the method, wherein a heat tone sensor composed of at least two NTC or PTC resistors and provided with a coating of a catalytically active material on the sensor in the region of at least one of these resistors is arranged ahead of the catalytic converter in the exhaust gas stream or a part thereof, with the catalytically active material initiating the same exothermal reactions as they take place in the catalytic converter employed for the exhaust gas purification. If the resistor is overheated due to an overly intensive exothermal reaction, resulting in a change in resistance, the heat tone sensor detects the drop in the throughput rate of the catalytic converter.

摘要： A sensor for determining the oxygen content in exhaust gases, particularly for lambda probes, is presented with catalytically active substances in the porous protective layer, which cover the electrode or electrodes exposed to the measuring gas, with discretely distributed platinum and homogenously distributed rhodium being used as catalytically active substances. The sensor in accordance with this invention guarantees excellent catalytic conversion of the exhaust gases and thus a control position of the sensor close to lambda=1.

摘要： A sparkplug for internal combustion engines which has a central electrode extending to the ignition end. The central electrode has an electrically non-conductive core pin with an electrically conductive outer layer on the cylindrical surface of the core pin. The central electrode is positioned in the lengthwise bore of the sparkplug insulator portion, preferably without any clearance between the insulator and the ignition end portion of the central electrode. The core pin is preferably made of a material which has shrinkage characteristics and a thermal coefficient of expansion substantially the same as those of the insulator. Most preferably the same material is used for both components. The electrically conductive coating layer of the central electrode is preferably a conductive metal-ceramic mixture. The coating layer may be in the form of a resistance element and/or contain a pre-ignition discharge gap. The sparkplug may also be formed with a recessed electrically conductive coating portion of the central electrode to form a surface gap sparkplug.

摘要： Oxygen sensors having a fine-grained stabilized cubic zirconium dioxide electrolyte contact respective electrodes. The zirconium dioxide contains between 15% and 50% by volume of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 in a crystalline state and has good mechanical and thermal properties. The oxygen sensor may have a composite zirconium dioxide solid electrolyte element. The invention also includes a wider range of related Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 - containing stabilized cubic zirconium dioxides containing between about 8% and 85% by volume Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. The invention further provides methods of manufacturing such Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 - containing zirconium dioxide and for manufacturing oxygen sensors.

摘要： Stabilized zirconium dioxide compositions sintered with a silicate flux and stabilized with (i) calcium oxide and (ii) magnesium oxide. The stabilized zirconium dioxide can be sintered at temperatures between 1460.degree. C. and 1480.degree. C. to form solids having high mechanical strength and a specific resistance of 1M.OMEGA.cm at a low temperature. The invention also provides oxygen sensors containing at least one measuring cell which is an oxygen concentration cell having two electrodes separated by and in ionic communication through a solid stabilized zirconium dioxide electrolyte which is prepared from the said compositions.
