    • The present invention relates to a broadband wireless access system, and more particularly, to a method for a mobile station to save power for prescribed duration without performing a paging procedure and apparatus therefor. According to one embodiment of the invention, a method of operating a DCR (deregistration with content retention) mode of a mobile station in a broadband wireless access system includes the steps of transmitting a registration request (AAI_REG-REQ) message to a base station and receiving a registration response (AAI_REG-RSP) message including an identifier for identifying the mobile station in association with connection information (AMS context) of the mobile station in a network including a base station from the base station.

    • The present invention relates to methods for performing fast handover by a terminal in an environment in which multiple femto base stations exist. A method for performing handover by a terminal includes transmitting, to a serving femto base station, a message for requesting seamless handover within a group including multiple femto base stations, the serving femto base station belonging to the group; receiving, from the serving femto base station, first command message including power information and allocation information; broadcasting an uplink signal that is applied with transmission power indicated by the power information, through an uplink resource indicated by the allocation information; receiving second command messages including measurements of the uplink signal measured by the multiple femto base stations from the serving femto base stations; and performing network re-entry to a target base station among the femto base stations.

    • A method for enabling a mobile station (MS) to efficiently detect and search for a femto base station is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of receiving a signal including information of a femto base station; and searching for the femto base station on the basis of the received information, wherein said received information is a sequence including at least one of the following: the entirety or a part of a femto base station ID (Identity), the entirety or a part of a cell ID, a sector ID, the entirety or a part of a CSG (Closed Subscriber Group) ID, and a frequency allocation index. In the step of receiving femto base station information, a preamble and data containing information on the femto base station are received. In the step of detecting the femto base station, the femto base station is separately detected on the basis of the received information. Here, the entirety or a part of the preamble sequence of the femto base station which is used for the separation of the femto base station is reused as a scrambling sequence for said data.
